I really enjoyed the video, and for the most part I didn't disagree with your judges' choice of 'short listed' photographs.  As I watched the video, though, I was thinking of the typical 'street' photograph.  By definition street photos are not taken in a studio under perfect lighting conditions with a camera mounted on a tripod.  Most of Henri Cartier-Bresson's photos would never have made your "short list."  To me, that's a problem.

Here's a tip that I've learned on how to win a photo contest. Have a complete stranger critique a picture you would like to enter into a contest. If the photo doesn't make an impression to him/her then your photo may not win a contest. Remember, in photo contest, especially national or worldwide, there are literally hundreds or thousands of entires. The judges only have a few seconds to make a quick decision. If the picture appears average, then your photo WILL be overlooked. Good Luck!!!

Yes well done.. Its a fact that a large amount of Americans are overweight.. Your the one that said all americans are fat, not me. Why are you even trying to start a stupid little argument?

  19. Ro O says

I didn't say that all americans are fat, you just assumed that..

  20. RPdigital says

It looks for me that photography has changed from realistic photography to artistic photography.

  25. Coffeeology says

@screenbeat1 I would read the rules before I decide if I can punish the pixels or not.

  26. Manila In Belgium says

@screenbeat1 If you want to send a picture for a competition it'd be a bad idea NOT to photoshop it. You can't however add new things to it (make a digital painting or a photomanip). Things like editing colors(color corrections), cropping, black and white, are pretty much accepted and even suggested. You can also do lens corrections and so on.

  29. Oktawiusz Wilk says

@screenbeat1 It depends – different competitions have different rules, make sure to read rules. If there is no rules about photoshoping – go for it if You fell that poto needs it.

    Wahooo!! What amazing photographies !!!!!

  32. zenoist2 says

    Exactly.
With digital you can shoot as much as you like so go for it in a big way!
slightly alter things and pick out your best shot later.
You can easily delete the not so good ones later
I used to use film cameras a lot and there was always the worry of wasting expensive film.
Most people dont take enough photos of something they consider a good view or scene..
Take Hundreds of the same view if nesscessary and your memory card is big enough, pick out the best one later.
