3 CRUCIAL Photography TIPS I wish I Knew BEFORE
3 Things I wish I knew before starting photography.
aka, 3 Things you should know before starting photography.
▶︎ NEW Lightroom Presets Pack:
Today I’m sharing something very personal that can help anyone. Those are the photography tips I wish I had heard when I was trying to take better pictures, whether it is for portraits, landscapes or street photography.

▶︎ Cheap Lenses you must start Photography with:
– Sony: &
– Canon: or or
– Nikon: or or
Note: If a Sigma Art version is available for those lenses and your camera system get it, it’s really good.
– M4/3: 25mm 12mm or 42.5mm depending on your camera system. Example for Panasonic:
✚ Lenses are 1000x more important than your camera body:
When we start photography we often get caught up in gear and camera bodies. The real question is what lens should you buy! The lenses have a much bigger impact on your photos than the body of the camera. Lenses will define if your shots are sharp, can have a shallow depth of field, can shoot in lower light, what type of bokeh you will have etc… To get the best photos possible from the beginning get a great lens with a low aperture like a 50mm f/1.8 for example.
✚ Minimum shutter speed lock function. I’ve talked a lot about it in my videos. Once more this is something I wish I had discovered way before. Minimum shutter speed allows you to tell your photography camera not to shoot under a defined shutter speed. Meaning when you shoot in aperture priority mode (you only control the aperture) the camera will change not allow the shutter speed to be slower than what you defined. This really helps get sharp and crispy shots no matter what conditions you are in. Automatically cameras always drag the shutter and we end up with blurry shots. Thanks to this it won’t.
✚ Editing your images:
Sounds silly but when I first started, I didn’t even know people edited their pictures. I had no clue why mine didn’t look as good as the ones on the magazines. Skill was 1reason but edit was the 2nd. Editing your photos allows you to achieve the look you want. Think of it as your personal touch on images. Yes you can use presets and filters but I highly encourage you to start from scratch for yourself.
That’s a wrap! Let me know what is the one thing you wish you knew when you started photography?

as soon as I got my canon 24-70mmL 2.8 mk ii and the 70-200mmL 2.8 mk ii you could see the difference ,
I just started doing street photography and I am really tempted to get a fuji camera just for doing that.
And keep up the great great work , really enjoy seeing your videos especially on street photography.
Any suggestions on camera to start out with? Current camera does not support addition lenses and want to actually get into photography.

I edit in lightroom mobile and the difference it makes in the mobile app just makes me wonder how much better it would be in pc
why is camera is doing focus hunting was it on auto focus
Just discovered your channel and I quite like it. I especially love how down to earth you seem to be. That's a good trait. My IG is @lensraptor if you want to check it out. i just started in February and I have a lot to learn. I shoot with a Sony a6000, Kit Lens and SEL55210. I'm mostly interested in nature, landscapes and street photography. Not portraits. The world has enough of those 😛
love your work! checkout my work on IG @MikePerezPhoto and @eye_of_the_streets
Love the enthusiasm and energy Pierre. Will be feeding off you while I hone my craft. Thanks

I'm a beginner very helpful, good tips thanks Pierre
I don't do much street photography but would love to hear from you or anyone that's into photography what they think of my shots. https://www.instagram.com/ben_gagne/
IG @prometheus.atlas.5 dont hesitate to critique my photos! ^^
Ugh, I HAVE to get out of the "manual ONLY" mentality! And maybe upgrade my body, too. LOL
@realeducatedsavage on IG
Not having a minimum shutter speed option annoys me as much as having just 30s and then bulb for long exposures. Why not 35, 40, 45… That really feels like the manufacturer not caring about that model too much.
@chetan_bommu
I love your video compositions but I guess your autofocus slightly changes your backgrounds while you're moving and being kept in focus (0:14). The change in the size of the buildings is very noticeable. Is anybody aware of this? If so, do you know if there is a way to avoid these issues (neglecting manual focus since it's a one man vlog), for instance in post processing?

Hey Bro! Just found your channel! check out my IG. http://www.instagram.com/panoramablack
Just followed you everywhere!
Your lens is focus breathing and that's pretty distracting because the AF. Please manual focus when filming
My Instagram is matthew_hames . I use my phone for photo's at the moment but soon I'll be using my first DSLR and train to become a full time photographer. Thank you so much for your advice. I have subscribed to your channel and hit that bell .
Nice tips!! I'm going through all your videos and they are very inspiring! This is my messy ig 😁 @darioborroni
@alikhawaja12
I’m so glad you mentioned the lenses. This is one of the reasons why I love Fujifilm. They don’t hand out crappy kit lenses like Nikon and Canon do. Why would anyone want to discourage a new photographer with crappy kit lenses? For an extra $50-$100, they can put a nice lens with their packages, and all people, especially young people can enjoy photography from their very first purchase. Cheap kit lenses just to make a quick sell, is a terrible business model that I wish they would abolish.
