A initially learned photography as a kid shooting black & white then developing the photos in a dark room, that was a magical time and sparked my interest in photography. As I got older I dabbled in digital photography but wasn't until my kids were born that i really started to get an active interest back in it all.

Have to say that portrait pro program is really awful. The left photo looks like a well taken photo of an absurd pose. But the right side looks like a silly cartoon image. It is like an amature filter for iPhones or something. I'm only an amature level photographer with a d800 and some cheap lenses and flashes. I only use Lightroom. But I would not be happy with that photo the silly pose looks fake to me. But also the cartoon processing make it look like a Snapchat filter or a video game. Would prefer to see a work flow video on dark table. Would be nice to see if it's a real alternative to Lightroom because screw Adobe. And it's one reason I haven't been back on Linux for years.
I got it running in Debian Stretch by downloading and installing wine-development_2.0-3_all.deb from https://debian.pkgs.org/9/debian-main-i386/wine-development_2.0-3_all.deb.html works fine without chasing wine 2.18
is it worth buying?
I'd like to know if Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer will run on Linux. I have a license for Portrait Pro. So this is great news! I'm converting my laptop to Linux tonight and I plan on running Ubuntu with Davinci Resolve. This machine will get used for commercial work. Hoping to use it for a live stream tomorrow at work (OBS). Will get Blackmagic Web Presenter hardware.
What are the specs of your linux machine? I'm looking to put a box together to primarily use with darktable and I want it to be smooth and fast.
I didn't realize it ran on LInux so I never gave it a look. Thanks for the demo.
Really bad user experience with PortraitPro 17: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSrnce5qE50
