London is a great city for photography – even with the British Police who did not like my kind of street photography.

I actually don’t know whether that policeman was right about the legality of street photography in London / UK. But the police was nice and I understand why they approach me – no hard feelings 🙂

This was my first time photographing London but it won’t be my last. And I will read up on the laws of street photography 😀

I shot with my Fujifilm X-T3 and a 56mm 1.2 – and with my Fuji x100f. too.

I’m Frederik Trovatten and I hope you enjoyed my London Street Photography video 🙂

London has gone full 1984. I will not visit there.

  3. Ron Seymour says

That security guard was talking rubbish but unfortunately, UK Police will tell you the same bullshit. It is not illegal to take any picture from a public viewpoint. If you do it again and you are asked for ID by the police, and they will, tell them no.Not unless you have committed a crime.

  4. MCharMedia says

these are amazing I love your approach to people

  5. r c says

That copper is talking total BS

  6. Pinspot Media says

For god’s sake man. There’s a huge problem in canary warf. They allow Google Maps to drive their car round there but these private security companies that walk around dressed like police officers have a real problem with photographers.

  7. Fighting For England says

That lying "security" moron – it's NOT illegal to take images of anything from a public place…

  8. Grant Carroll says

    Great shots.

Those guys werent cops, they were security, they know nothing.

  9. andrew clegg says

  11. dazzap says

Yet more idiots in costume. You can film what you like from a public place in the UK.As long you are in public spaces

  12. Jayen4 says

Aaand , yet again the cops just have to fuck it up ! Should have asked that tyrant if he was making some sort of accusations ! I would have told him not to treat me like a child and to get away from me….. I was enjoying that until those 2 tyrants showed up….. Sigh…. One of these days I'll get myself a camera….THEN these idiots had better watch out !

  13. Chris Barron says

It all ought to be a moot point now, given that google street view cars are patrolling and shooting every inch of British streets

I enjoyed that I don’t watch many video out of the country but your style is cool. I would love it if you watched my two Manchester City street or my Liverpool videos and give me some feedback. I have subscribed and will watch more from you oh and it is so good when someone says hello from watching you I had mine at the beginning of the year it was an amazing feeling.

  17. Martin Philpott says

I’m actually embarrassed to be English right now. Please accept my apologies for the way you were treated by that imbecile security guard. Keep up the good work and I hope your vacation was not spoiled by this incident.

Nice video, you gained a new sub. To be fair those Canary Wharf security guards were polite and the whole discussion seemed to go quickly and amicably, largely, I imagine, because you remained calm and polite, which was a good choice. I have shot for a couple of hours in Canary Wharf and wasn't approached once by police or security, but I did not have a go pro or video camera and I didn't particularly point my camera at entrances, although I did do some wide angle architectural shots without a tripod. Canary Wharf actually has a website with info about photography on it – worth a look !

The unfortunate truth is that we live in a society that has already been attacked, and the police have prevented many attacks in the planning stage. The police are now paranoid because the enemy now lives amongst us.

It used to be such an easy pleasant city to get about in, even just in the eighties it was great. Now it’s a fortress.

  20. Tony Lewis says

They were NOT police, they were Canary Warf security. I hope you didn’t show them your photographs.

  21. carforumwanker says

No part of the city is "private" .As long as there is public right of way etc you are free to take pics

  22. Haozhe XU says

What focal length do you use the most?

  23. Robert Whittaker says

    great video and amazing pictures

  24. Joe Margetts says

My view, Go on then, call the Police, maybe they might understand the law? Hopefully. Nice vid, you are a much more talented photographer than I am.

  25. lawrence windrush says

You can pictures of anything in public in London- the security guard is talking rubbish

  26. MrMovieMan941 says

Here in Serbia people are not very friendly about camera being pointed in their faces….9 out of 10 times you would get slapped or knocked out….I don't know why…..and I'm Serbian….

  27. Mc Rambro says

Your title is misleading, Security don't have a problem with street photography they have a problem with you taking photos of building entrances.

  28. Peter Kaltoft says

You said Copenhagen because you guys always want to move to the only real city on Denmark 😁

I liked this one. Been in London only once, 20 years ago or so. Just too expensive.

Also, I get the guards. Annoying, but when you have a real chance of terror, people get a little more jumpy. Come down here though, it's only around governmental buildings that there issues, otherwise it's pretty relaxed.

Better keep it to English for the viewers😉 as always a great video, Frederik.

  29. Pyotr Leflegin says

Great photos, Frederik; you're an ace photographer. Thank you and good luck.

  30. Michael Thwaite says

It is not illegal to photograph in a public place, however the Security Guard may well be committing an illegal act – "Any person who, not being a constable, wears any article of police uniform in circumstances where it gives him an appearance so nearly resembling that of a member of a police force as to be calculated to deceive shall be guilty of an offence". And "article" means – anything having the appearance of such an article (Police uniform). I would suggest that this uniform (complete with flat cap having a checkered headband) and the demeanour of the security guard who makes an approach in a public place beyond the jurisdiction of employment (the private buildings) IS calculated to deceive.

  31. To Ni says

Woooow your photos are amazing. I love the composition and the style of editing. I love street photography I'm practice when I have a chance but right now I took a break cause my camera died on me. Great work I love this episode.

5:40 "I'm not photogenic"; actually looks into the camera like he used to be a model back in the day

  33. Jack Smith says

you should have told him to leave you alone he has no right to see your pictures

  34. MfourMike says

"because of the security threat at the moment"???????. Hostile reconnaissance???. They aren't even police. Sorry you had to experience those pretend police f*cktards.

  35. Pablo Sol says

If the police or security approach me like that.. I'd never cooperate or show them anything on my camera.. Let them sue you and make them show you in court you are innocent so that it costs them and the company they work for money.
