Basic Flower & Macro Photography
Flower photography is enjoyed by many people all over the world. Do a Google Images search for flowers and you will come up with millions of samples. In my video I go over timing, lenses, depth of field, focus points, focus modes and some composition tips for capturing great macro and flower photographs.

Thank you for your tips. What about using flash?

Thanks for sharing, Gregory! Lots of great information in a matter of minutes!
You should check out Laowa Lenses. 15mm wide macro and 60mm 2:1 macro. Fantastic lenses.
Hi Gregory, do you have a better recommendation now for close up flower photography? You mentioned the 60mm 2.8 AF micro. Wondering if you have a newer choice now 6 years later? And Thank You for this Video!!

When I took photos of some flowers, I done it right at the perfect time. When I came back, they were dying and sad looking.
thanks a lot, Greg, very helpful specifically the tip on continuous focus. just 1 thing: in the heart of the flower, that is the so called 'pistil' 🙂

A bit late watching this video but yeah that 60mm is a great lens! Love it! I call it my "trusty sixty" as it never fails to let me down.

I wish that I could have seen this video before purchasing my new TOKINA Macro 100/2.8. However, your Micro NIKKOR lens specs are fairly identical to that of the my TOKINA.
Excellent Video!
Cheers!
Nice one, Subscribed. Please keep'em comin…
Great vid! What kind of flowers are at 3:20?
Thank you Gregory Cazillo.

Thank you !!
I always shoot in AF-S with lowest f/# because i've been told to keep it as low as possible… i always go zoomed in max ( 55m ) because i use kitlens with raynox 250 dcr macro converter…
and it gives me f/5.3 and i want more in focus
So u shoot in AF-C? do you have a video that explains that setting? would love to see and use it
What camera are u using? Great vid btw.
Hello, thanks for the tips! I wanted to know what your advice would be to take a flower picture with a white background? I am having trouble with focusing on the whole flower, basically I can get a great focus on the flower itself but not the stem or leaf(s). I am taking pics for my watercolor painting reference.
