Portrait #83 – Charcoal Drawing of a Student

How do you decide on the composition? It is sometimes a quick moment of instinct and emotion, and sometimes a lengthy consideration. In this live portrait demonstration, I liked the pose, including the hands. This decision added more challenge to the portrait drawing than just drawing the head and shoulders, but the added challenge is more fun.
