It’s crazy seeing that photo of the d-day landing. My grandfather served on LST-262 which is the first completely visible ship (3rd from right) with doors open. He told me stories of how after the beach was secured, they were allowed a feed hours on land. He then walked with some friends through a field of flowers to pick them as a keepsake. That’s when an officer yelled at them because they were in a middle of a minefield (warning sign was knocked down). Thankfully he survived, and even gave that very flower to my sister 70 years later. It’s crazy how war works.

Its weird thinking that photos of us in 2019 may be used in a youtube type film hundreds of years from now to depict the early 21st century, and we will never know about it.

why do people seem to think that back then it was better or it was such a long time ago. It really wasnt. Beleive me living in the 1910s would have been just as odd and complex as living in the 2020s. Time goes on.
