Many of the students at this school are very nice and accepting. I've met a lot of them through my good friend, who is currently a student there. The guy there was an exchange student, and no one knows if he knew of the severe consequences for that slur. (His handwriting also doesn't match the one on the poster, this was confirmed by a teacher.) Currently, the foreign student was sent back to his original country and the consequences for the girl are unknown. Many students are worried that they won't get into a good college for this event, and many teachers are mourning because their school's reputation is currently being destroyed. Also, this wasn't Trump's fault because most people in this area disagree with his views and don't like him. Today was basically a mourning day for the school and it didn't help that they received a threat of a school shooting from someone under this tweet, so police officers and news vans surrounded the area. Even surrounding schools retweeted the post and started saying that this was why they didn't go there. As a person who used to live in this area, I remember how one of the district members tried to lower PVHS rank because they were more in favor of PEN (rival school). Many students at this school actually go against racism. Palos Verdes High School is not racist in any way, shape, or form. There were only about two or three people involved, out of the 1000 total. This small group doesn't represent the majority of the hardworking students that live in this area. As a white girl who is disgusted by this act and is disturbed by the hate towards this school, I hope that people will stop grouping everyone together and saying that PVHS is racist, it's not.
Their parents surely raised them with no decorum or civility for living amongst civilized beings. From the photo they look like white students. Such a shame.

Why is the school looking to punish them at all? If this was posted on a public forum and was not carried out on school property, as it appears it was not, then it is a private matter that should be handled by the parents not the school. Does this mean that the students are not allowed their own freedom to speak their mind? I am not condoning what they did and yes, it was very distasteful. However, the school is not the parents nor legal guardian. What the students do off of school property is irrelevant to what they do in school.
This is a classic example of overreach of a leftist school system looking to impose PC rules on society and to bend society to its whims and their standards. This is a matter that should be handled by the parents. Is it offensive, yes. Should it have been done, no. However, SUPPOSEDLY there is a Freedom of Speech and unless it incites rioting then let it be and be dealt with by those that reside over these teenagers, the parents or guardians.
