  2. Peter F. says

Hi Karl, may I kindly ask if you let the layers dry before you apply the next colour, or do you work the colours in while the base colour is still wet?

  3. Eric Kaiser says

    Awesome mate! Thanks a lot!

  7. gurudeclan says

I like mottled, cloudy backdrops but I'm not into too much splatter. By everyone's different.

  8. Michael Wright says

Hi Karl, great backdrop! How watered down were your wash colours?

  9. Sonja says

Thank you so much for sharing your inspiring canvas painting idea !! Just AWESOME workmanship !

  10. darylh3030 says

How long did you wait for the grey paint to dry before putting the wash color?

  11. Walter says

This is like a cooking demonstration without the cook telling you what the ingredients are. WTF!. We used mystery meat. Any DIY video should list the tools ingredients in the top section under the the more information and not force people to ask the most obvious questions of what were the ingredients.

Beautiful! Just what I was looking for! Thank you! Great video.

Hi, what's the product you use first? Is it for seal the surface? Is the paint regular latex for walls? thanks!

I'm still looking for a model to stick

  16. Kevin Queen says

Karl, did you create that backdrop for this specific shot or is that an area of control that doesn't matter so much?

  17. Michael Keane says

Hi, quick question, what type/brand of paint did you use on this canvas? TIA

  18. Shiki Photography says

May I please ask a question? I noticed e on my smaller backdrops I get reflection off flash. I use acrylic on canvas. Am I too close? Acrylic is Matt right? I appreciate any advice you can offer. Thank you for yet another great tutorial 🙂

  19. Jon Snapaway says

Maybe a stupid question but being painted and glued can it still be rolled up for when not being used ?

    Many thanks Jon.

  20. Megan Weller says

This is a great idea, I may just "borrow" some of my dad's canvas drop cloths and try this myself! And for all of the Americans in the comments, PVA glue is similar to Elmer's Glue 🙂

  21. Manfred Oetting says

What the hell is "PVA"? Don't forget your foreign spectators

  22. Hello! the texture of the canvas what was? large, medium or small?

  23. Megan Sullivan says

I want to make my own backdrop but I have absolutely no idea on where to buy the PVA Glue. can I please get some help or direction to where this stuff can be found.
And thank you very much for this tutorial and the others! they are extremely helpful!

  24. Elhp E says

Someone please let me know what kind of paint can be used. Also, if the canvas roll is purchsed primed for oil paint, should that be enough becoure yu start adding the color you want? Thanks!

  25. Shane Herring says

Another great tip and at a great price. Sharing your knowledge with the world, especially when it's free, is always appreciated Karl. It really doesn't take much to fill in any gaps.

  26. Anthony Dark says

great video, thank you so much for taking the time to show your art. You gave me ideas on what to do with my background mix it up and do something different with splash of muted color, to make people pop. Please do more..

  27. India Gibbs says

    Love it

  28. Tongue Ticklers says

Thanks! I think I might use this on smaller canvas for creating food photography backgrounds. The background shown here looks stunning!

  29. Eric Powell says

Maybe the kind of paint is some big secret as you obviously don't want to answer the most obvious question in a diy painting video. If you're looking for a question here: What's the point of doing the video at all then?

  30. lexmax08 says

    Very useful.

  31. sian cookie says

Hope you don't mind me asking, what's the purpose of seeking the canvas? And can you roll them once painted for storage? Awesome diy!

  32. Wendy Garfinkel Photography says

Thank you for the added 'fly around the room'. So fun!

  33. David Velez says

what material did you use as background? its cloth? plastic?

  34. AbzMystery says

What type of paints can use? I am confused on which type paints to buy.
