First Image of a Black Hole!

The Event Horizon Telescope Collaboration observed the supermassive black hole at the center of M87, finding the dark central shadow in accordance with General Relativity, further demonstrating the power of this 100 year-old theory.

To understand more about why the shadows look the way they do, check out:

I will continue updating this description with more links.

Good job providing the blackhole image but What about the white hole image?

wrapping your mind around the dimensions of space is truly a mind warping experience.

What would happen if a relatively tiny black hole "ate" a relatively massive star?
Is it physically possible for there to be a black hole small enough, to eat a start massive enough too… overfill the black hole, and have it become something other than a black hole?

Here's this picture of a red glow. It's so far away we can't see it clearly but we can tell you exactly what it is and how big it is. 👍

I was wondering if there is any ideas or premises out there of where matter or space dust that has been swallowed up by a black hole go? I realize that we do not have the technology to find the answer but it does intrigue me to know where space dust being swallowed ends up. I wonder if you could make a video explaining this notion.

If the black hole is real then I don’t know what to think of all of the religions we have. Dose this mean our faith is not real? This makes me feel very confused honestly.

What if everybody was waiting for Hawking to die so they could lie and live in irony for all their lives. But legitimately, I wish Elon Musk would've took this.

Coincidence that looking at black hole from side looks like looking at magnetic poles using a ferrocell?

Odd question…how come we don't have an image of the black hole at the center of our galaxy?

    Here’s something trippy
Take the amount of grains of the earth or well a rough estimates which is 7.5 x 10 to the power of 18 and times it by one quintillion
There’s more stars and dead stars just here than all those grains of sand
Yep not beyond our galaxy just here

gm/c^2=m/10^27, m=10^27 kg make 1 meter radius black hole, strong force g(p) 10^38 time stronger than gravity g, when m=1*kg make 10^11 meter radius black hole by strong force g(p), proton have 10^-27 kg have 10^-16 meter radius for proton as experience predict.

    I will make an assumption:
When we (astronauts) look at the Earth and see a huge funnel in the center of the Tornado going from the sky to the ground, where a vacuum is created and everything nearby is drawn in, then drawing a BH analogy, we can assume that the Black "funnel" is in the center of the galaxy, which is also The nearby nearby (by cosmic standards, our sun is close to the “funnel”) also comes from the cosmic sky to the cosmic earth. I hope you understand the essence of my words.
I will add: according to this idea, when our solar system is pulled into a black funnel, it will be thrown down and flatten out on the way (depending on the forces of gravity) as it happens in Tornado.

  46. LF X ProductionzZ says

Does that mean it could swallow up the earth one day??

  47. Anatoli Tihomirov says

Where did all that technology boost came from. Before 200 years there was no radio and now we can see even the black hole on other galaxy. This is getting interesting for the next few centuries. I hope memes doesn't destroy it tho (joke) 😅
