They say your first 10 thousand photos are your worst. Yes, maybe, no. The way I see it is the more you take the better you get. Take many photos delete most of them, and that's how you learn.
I think you're reading my mind. I've become very selective about what I'll share with friends. They may not know, but I know if a picture is high enough quality.
