In this video I head out onto the streets of Soho in London, with Joshua Jackson, to talk about creating mood and mystery in your street photography. He shares his philosophy for capturing the city he lives in, including how he uses the concept of ‘the curiosity gap’ to mask and abstract his subjects, encouraging those who view his work to lean in and spend more time with the image to find out more. I also offer some thoughts on work ethic and defining a style for your own work.

Espectacular!. Saludos desde Argentina
Only discovered your channel tonight Sean and finding myself watching the films back to back. Totally awesome and inspirational. Thanks.
I love it. Great inspiration before my next journey. Thank you for your work, Sean.
great story, the cinematography was beautiful
I participated in one of Joshua's street workshop on the strength of this video when I recently traveled to London {Mar 2019}. Sean's words and thoughts are focused and inspirational, and I love to revisit and re-listen, and I know many who feel the same about his videos and advice
Great video your friends work is stunning
Thank you for this, absolutely relished this video.
Sean, I really enjoyed this video documentary. Great message of a new way of thinking about street photography. Your color grading and video work is spectacular!
Thank you Sean. your energy is very inspiring. to say the least. Thank you.
Sean I found this clip so impressive, I come from a Videography back ground turned Photographer the subject matter the compelling story the Colours and Lighting. Your techniques employed what gives me the how sharing and advice especially introducing your images and Joshua's in this clip. What I also loved is the back ground music to create mod. The dialogue just flows with interest. I tend to listen to each clip. It's an Art form within the video "Sounds" while blogging and reporting requires complete attention to detail. Where light colour and mod is so important for your audience this also applies to your sound in the clips. Such as Dynamic range texture interlace the visual with the sound just selecting sound tracks is another masterful learning kerb. While post production tasks up your valuable time. Look forward to your next clip… Ps arriving in London early May with a new Fujifilm system just for travel purposes, Unfortunately being inconspicuous is hard when your 6"" 4 weighing 120 kilo's and built like a Rugby player especially when photographing in Japan.
So one of the keys to great photography is – Sore Feet! Great advice in this video as usual.
I have been looking at the work of Vivian Maier lately. Vey inspiring.
Saul Leiter and Ernst Haas come to mind. But not in an imitative way. He’s clearly on a path of his own. But seems to have absorbed and learned from those masters. Thanks for this video. Very inspiring work from both of you!
He’s an awesome photographer. Would love to know what stock he uses! Love that he shoots film.
This one payed off
Love this video. Best piece of advice I ever got in art school was, "You've got 1,000 bad designs in you. You've got to do all of them before you start seeing the good ones."
Excellently done. Bravo. As humble and knowledgeable as always.
Same cap, same glasses, same height… I thought your friend was me at first.
Josh's explanation and analogy about the story telling about the comedian with his punchline…is brilliant. I will never forget that. And I agree fully, obviously, haha. But I do like leaving a bit of mystery, or open space for the viewer to, joshua's word, "fill in". Deadspace is another, perhaps. I almost want to think of like, if they get to look at it, then they ahve to work a bit too, almost there effort in the imagination process. There toll for entering our head and eyes!
Excellent. Thank you.
God why do you hold a mirror to us, showing us we are sooooo lazy, I know I am! Thank you for driving us forward x
Speechless
what kind of camera is he using?
Brilliant video and it really gives me something to think about. Thank you!
Very nice photos, but it is Saul Leiter's style, nothing new as you've said.
I needed this. Thank you.
Excellent video. I've been following Joshua on Instagram since I started to get involved in street photography. He is one of my favourites. And Sean, I totally agree with the featured comment of Christopher Wood about ur own job. They way u told this story was totally immersive, and really matching Joshua's style. Congrats!
Great inspirational video. love your work
Truely inspirational, great work. I am so impressed with the way you can talk to the camera continuously without cutting and editing the thing within an inch of its life, unlike the other Youtube stars in the photographic/video genre. (we all know who they are) Your video was calm measured and informative without being stuffy.
Nice

Nice vid Brud!
what does your sweater logo mean?
You should make Instagram
For me this is one of the better Videos … I admit I am torn from I enjoy hearing you Speak Sean for odd reason its kind of relaxing and thoughtful but this video had content in a way I can use. a different way took at what I do with photography.
Thanks for this interesting portrait! Without your help and this channel, I would never have known this outstanding street photographer and his work.
Brilliant video, very insipiring with fantastic advice. Thank you Sean and Joshua.
I really enjoyed this video. Are all his images shot on film? That camera looks like a Leica M6.
Very nice interview. The videography is amazing!!! Thumbs up I watched it twice.
There's no substitute for hard work.
Awesome video! Thank you so much!!!
Sean this is a brilliant video. I love the messages you convey, as well as seeing the world from Joshua's photographic perspective.
