This is an overview of my favorite camera and lens that I take with me when I travel. That is the Sony A6000 and Sony SEL35F18 prime lens. This makes for a very compact kit, but it delivers huge results.

Awesome video mate thanks. Definitely be looking into purchasing this lens for my a6400 picture looks great 👍🏻

You've inspired me. I've watched this video before but it popped up on youtube again today. Good timing because I'm trying to figure out what minimum photo gear to bring on two vacations. I had thought of bringing the Sony 18-105 with the a6500. That lens is large and of course only f4. It would be great in some situations but not others. I hadn't considered the Sony 35mm f1.8 but after thinking it over it may be the ideal lens. Thank you. It is almost as small as the tiny kit 16-50mm f3.5-6.5. It is decently sharp and can be used for portraits as well as landscapes which makes it a good vacation lens.

can someone tell me which place is this

I wish. My experience with the Wasabi batteries they simply don’t come anywhere close to NP-FW50’s.

  5. jdannug517 says

Would you say this is still the case 2 years later?

Sony A6000 is 5 years old but still love this baby.

My gf doesn’t like me taking pics of her. Any tips?

Trying to decide on a lens fir my Sony a6000. Sony 35mm 1.8 or the Sony 18-105 F4. Any taught between the 2 lens?

Video looks amazing and that all shots had no editing done. What movie mode did you used? If you could share your camera settings for travel videos.

I have the G7X MII last year and this cyber week sale i got a like new condition A5100. Compared to the G7X MII – the strap connector on the A5100 makes rattling noise and the clicking sound when taking pic is loud. I'm not a vlogger but want a camera for travel videos with cinematic and movie like results. Just like this video.

And hey – we share the same name! 🙂

What about sigma 30mm f1.4? Cheaper, faster, sharper. No OSS though…

  13. Sebastian Schmidt says

What do you think about the sigma 30mm f2.8 …?

Do you think this lens would work as fine on a Sony a5100 ?

Excelente, gran canal, fantásticos videos! Saludos desde Colombia

  18. Graph Guy says

Great travel video… life is good.
An excellent lens, it is not expensive when you compare the DXOMARKS rating to price ratio… it is the best lens. For example the slower Zeiss 2.8 is double the price with no increase in quality.

  19. dragonfist25 says

Dude holy smokes…. I was seriously considering buying a a6000 but maybe I should just keep my a5000 and buy the 35mm 1.8 instead. I can't believe those shots are straight-out-of-camera.

I am watching this nearly a year after you posted the video and bought the 35 mm (Yesterday) after watching another one of your videos from when you first got one. I absolutely love this lens and can’t wait to shoot at night with it. A Maine trip is booked for the first week of October, and it is going to be my go to lens for the trip. Thanks for the recommendation!

    your girl is soo beautiful😊👌

If you continue to only shoot at your girl, you will start to lose followers quickly.
There are landscapes, buildings and arts you are missing because of your blindness.

Love your channel I have been learning a lot today watching your videos! I am going to Hawaii in two weeks I could not decide between my sony 35mm or sony 18-105mm and I want to just take one lens with me.

  31. Jim Buckley says

Have had my A6000 for about two years now and bought tons of lenses. All based on recommendations on you tube snd guess what. Have this lands so finally as I learn to use my camera this will be my “go to” until I get comfortable based on your video. Thanks as I tend to get lost in tech

  32. S 21 says

Hiiii! Can I use the 35mm f1.8 on Sony A5100?

  33. Stephanie Smith says

By the way I just looked at what camera you chose..yep A6000 it is you just sold me on this camera

  34. Stephanie Smith says

Love this!! The music and the way she looks at you is awesome

  35. Jonathan Kirshenbaum says

It looks like you had some slow-mo or high speed footage. Did you just slow it down in post? The a6000 doesn't shoot more than 60fps right?

  36. Orio Menoni says

Great video. You guys look fantastic, you make me wish to be young again…

  37. Shareen Medina says

Hi! I noticed you carry 2 Sonys. Would you not reccomend the A5100 for BOTH vlogging and travel pictures? I just got the A5100, my normal cam was the nikdon d3200 but wanted something more compact – now I'm wondering if I can't use it for both.

  38. Courtney E says

I’m going to Italy in 2 weeks. I have a Sony A5100 with kit lens. What lens would you recommend for shooting the Dolomites (landscapes). Am I okay to use the kit lens or should I grab a pancake or a 55-210mm zoom?

  39. NSLAS Shore says

awesome tips, been tossing around my next travel between SEL50F18 50mm f/1.8 lens or new purchase of the Sony 35mm F/1.8 OSS, and of course working on limited gear to travel with.. Any tips, would be greatly appreciated. (( traveling to Rome ))

How much editing did you have to do to your video afterwards? Looking to shoot video like that without all the after editing of colors and exposures and such.

  47. alexlucibello says

You're welcome anytime in Positano 😉
I do really enjoy all of your high quality content, i've been recently watched lot of comparisons on the internet about different cameras and lenses. I never owned any kind of professional cameras, just my Sony Xperia S phone, and i think that i just fell in love with the a6300, plus the Sigma 16mm 1.4.
Keep it up, i do really enjoy all of your genuine contents!

  48. Danny Jakitsadaparp says

Great video! What video editing software do you use and where do you the get background music from? Sorry for such newbie questions

  49. Susazeu says

I prefer buying full frame lenses. One day I'll be able to afford a full frame body so I'll have the lenses I need. If I wanted just one APS C lens I'd go for the 20 mm 2.8 pancake. Nevertheless, good choices.

This video actually made me get the SEL35F18 lens for my A6000, thanks for the great review. Since you have used the lens a lot have you ever noticed it making a weird humming sound. Mine sound like this every time I focus on something https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c75vtthGqz0. I asked the company from witch I bought the lens and the say that it’s the OSS making the sound. I don’t agree with them 100% but when I do turn off the OSS the humming does stop. However I’m not sure it should be making a sound like that. Could I get your opinion on it? Have you had your SEL35F18 make that kind of noise? Thanks in advance
