Rabbits have pretty big teeth and can bite hard.. it’s crazy to think that there aren’t legal issues do to children getting bit by these bunnies while they’re manhandling them. The worst part is that if a little kid gets bit, most people would say, “That rabbit is horrible, it bit a poor innocent child that didn’t know any better!” But yet the parents and all other adults clearly know that lifting a rabbit by its ears or that kind of thing IS A HORRIBLE IDEA. It makes me frustrated that people are like this…

I just wanted to say that it made my heart break when I saw on youtube how those HORRIBLE HUMAN BEINGS dye small chicks during easter time and sell them. Most people wont think that they need to care for the tiny birds, they just take them home and when they get skin diasieses (srry for my spelling, im not english) they throw them away and the poor chicks die. I will put a link here to the HEARTBREAKING video I just saw…

Thanks man for bringing this to light. We need to spread awareness about all these problems.

This made me really sad, I wish I didn't watch this. But this is something that needs to be heard, thanks Tyler.

if they want to use animals they should loan/rent rescued or shelter rabbits! I'm a private rescue, when i take them in its their forever home! After hearing all this negative news i spread the word in my town. I even offered my services for those that wanted animals for their shoots to stop them from doing the same thing! on top of that another problem about these companies using animals as props is those are tiny babies!! their scared and dont wanna sit with the children.. they would be better off using an older bun.. i know several of my boys would love to sit and get some pets, and their really pretty where they would be pretty for photos! but to use and abuse helpless babies for the 2 weeks for the Easter shoots are disgusting! they should be ashamed!

A friend of mine owns rabbits and he always offers for kiddos to socialize with them, especially around easter, to prevent anyone in the neighborhood from going out and supporting people who do this

  9. misspinkpunkykat says

It should be illegal to sell rabbits around Easter. Just like most animal shelters will not let you adopt a black cat around Halloween.

my old bun jumped less than a foot from my arms and landed wrong- she broke her leg and died under anesthesia 🙁 if a healthy rabbit can die from a foot long fall, kids shouldnt be holding them.

How can it be cruelty if rabbits don't have feelings? I read that rabbits don't have complex central nervous systems or brains, and thus cannot fail pain/sadness/etc.

This is really informative, and I gotta say, I stumbled across your channel and your rabbits are absolutely adorable!

This is heartbreaking. One of those bunnies looks like my own. Could never imagine keeping him in a cage like that… Heartless people.

Thank you Tyler for being an advocate for rabbit! Especially right before Easter! You have inspired me

I’ve seen so many posts on my local Craigslist asking for rabbits. It breaks my heart. It happens to ducks and chickens too. My local feed store has a sign up saying “I’m not an Easter toy” and lists the care that those animals need. It’s heartbreaking knowing that some parent out there somewhere is going to buy a baby rabbit or two and lock them in a tiny cage.
I’m glad people are bringing it up more often, as I raised a lot of these animals with my parents growing up and loved all of them so much!

I remember being about 6 and getting my photo done for Easter with a bunny 😞 wish the photo studio knew better!!

I bought a rabbit that was pregnant once. Her baby's were born before Easter, and everyone was asking for them. I told them they weren't going to be ready till after Easter (it was a lie). After Easter people stopped asking for them. I found that sad, I even though about starting a place where you can take pictures with rabbits without buying them. But I'm sure people will find a way to exploit that to. Plus I don't trust strangers kids with my rabbits. And I didn't want to put them in danger, so I scraped that idea.

I was… not a very good kid, I was extremely depressed and just sad in general when I was about 11 and I got a black cat named Veronica. Impulsively. I had 2 dogs including a terrier and the cat was TERRIFIED. I absolutely adored the cat and was willing to invest time and money into that cat but subjecting her to the dogs was not something I wanted to do, I balled my eyes out when I took her back to the shelter I hope Veronica got adopted into a better home she was such a sweetheart. I now work at a humane society where I can love and take care of the animals but also not subject them to inhumane homes, I do have 2 cats now since the terrier died and they are so spoiled they rule the house! ESPECIALLY Cleo and they get along amazing with my other animals! Although I do keep my skink away from them because duh but yeah! I’m much more experienced with animals and deeply regret impulse buying a cat

We have rabbits and once during easter time, some years ago, a woman came to my mother and asked if she could buy a rabbit for her daughter. My mum refused but sadly the next day or so the rabbit was gone and never to be seen again. I just hope the best for the little one 🙁
But honestly, a lot of horrible things happened to our rabbits (they live outside btw, you can reach them from the street), there was a time when people threw in moldy old bread and even gingerbread, during the night of course and I still don't understand why anyone would do that. Luckily it's been a while since then and nothing cruel happened in the recent years.

I hate it when I say rabbits stinks to mountain tops, and people are like "noooo they don't smell if you keep them clean" I mean…………………………… EXCUSE ME have you every tried to keep a rabbit CLEAN… That's the kind of people who let others into believing that "oh if I just keep this rabbit clean, it won't smell" They have no idea the kind of work and dedication that goes into keeping an indoor rabbit.

I am a nanny for a family with a rabbit. I dislike how they take care of it. Mostly pellets that the mom buys at target. The bedding is a mix of the white soft kaytee and a wood ( I don’t remember what kind) and they give it hey but not a lot. Whenever I notice it I always give him more. No one spends a lot of time with him. I just let him out in the morning and he just hops around the kitchen/ dining room where his cage is. He’s very still when I touch him and won’t let me pick him up. I feel bad for this bunny 😞 and I’m not sure if it appropriate to tell the mom about how their bunny care isn’t okay

Have you done a video on county fairs and ffa animals? The county fair I just went to had rabbits in cages smaller than that with wire bottoms. Their hens were housed two to a cage and right next to each other so they were constantly fighting. It was actually really sad to see.

  25. kiki lawner says

People do this with birds and ducks too for Easter! Someone inboxed me trying to buy my cockatiels for an Easter shoot and loads of my friends have been harassed with these messages too!

    Hi Tyler!
I just wanna ramble a bit about impulse buying. I impulse bought a baby lion head a few months back.. my mistake :O
But just wanted to let everyone know- she has a two tier hutch now that opens into a play area, she has all the hay and toys she could wish for. She loves her snuggles, and her big brother Winnie (my other rabbit ((who is fixed lol))
Just trying to do well for her.
It scares me that someone else in my shoes might have made the same impulse buy around this time who didn’t have any rabbit knowledge or simply gave her away after a few weeks because she happens to be a hyper little bun who loves causing a fuss lol.

My pet store actually doesn’t allow anyone to purchase rabbits over the Easter Holidays to reduce the correlation. It’s a small action but it does help.

I miss my rabbit Nestle now. He was the best ever when I was younger. I didn't know anything about rabbits back then, there wasn't any internet back then. I think I had one care guide book which wasn't very helpful lol. But I still learned a lot with Nestle and he lived 12 years with me. If I had this channel back then to help maybe he would of lived longer? lol idk how long they live for? Anyway, thanks for the vid, I learn so much from your channel.

I’m in Ma and I saw this last year in our local mall. There was a photography studio advertising the hell out of having your picture taken with live rabbits.
They keep the rabbits in these ridiculously tiny cages all day while they get man handled by kids all day long. It should be illegal.
Animals are not photography props. If they like the idea, they should get a realistic looking fake rabbit for the photos.

My bfs family has a lionmane rabbit she is very unsocial and skittish because the pet store wasnt properly taking care and handled her when she was pregnant so we rescued her but it was too late she killed her young. Rabbits kill the babies if you move them during pregnancy.
Rabbits should be able to live quite a while
The lionmane has been alive 10 years now

(This happened last year) I moved out of my sister that has a bunny for Easter (which I take care of). One day before I moved, my sister texted me that she doesn't want him anymore. And I put my foot down! I drove a 1 hour drive and spent over $300 dollars in the pet store (I love spoiling every pet I have). And drove to sister house and I got him in a traveling carrier . And went to the vet for a checkup. And by the way Teddy winter ( his full name cause he was born close during winter) is lively and awesome bunny anyone can have!!!

So great you are touching on this topic. I have a friend who knows nothing about rabbits and her and her mom ignor all the things I tell her. I am only a tween, so it is hard to do much, but I am hoping to become a YouTuber when I am older, and have made one crappy video so far!

Maybe you could do a video about people breeding pet rabbits. I see so often people with litters of mixed breed pet rabbits and ads on kijiji looking for random bunnies to breed and it just makes me so angry/sad because they’re are already so many rabbits without homes in shelters, rescues etc. I breed show rabbits and I love them so much! Most people (not all sadly) in the show world also love their rabbits/care for them properly and just want to better the breed. These show rabbits don’t end up in shelters but many pet rabbits do. Some people just have no idea what they’re doing. Also almost every good show breeder I know doesn’t sell rabbits in the months leading up to Easter because they understand you should never impulse buy. I think it could be an interesting video and hopefully it could spread awareness.

I have neighbors who bought a total of 4 rabbits.. all have died, the first died in its outside WIRE cage, he had an indoor cage as well. The other three died recently, i don't know how they died, all the rabbits were for their 3 young kids, 3 of the rabbits had wire cages. I have had a ferret for almost 3 years, and now the kids want a ferret..

I once questioned a guy advertising baby bunnies for Easter specifically on a neighborhood app called Nextdoor. He got angry and suggested putting them all down (/s) among some other statements. ugh.

Though I can’t support any business that uses Animals as props and neglect them… portrait simple just needs to find a better way to do this. Running a business is part of capitalism so no one should harass them for it… just better solutions.
