I’m constantly asked about how I got into this industry and what tips I’d give people to get their foot in the door. This is how I did it so I hope it might give someone some ideas on where they can start!

If you’re looking more for advice on how to get into doing makeup for social media, I have a five-video series detailing a lot of stuff to help with that here!

Way to Go!!!!! So HAPPY for you!!!! Thanks for always inspiring me!!! You are the cutest!! I also like what Michelle wrote… It does take hard work to make it. A person really must have a passion for what they do and must have the desire in their heart. Most people don't know or have any idea of the hardships, hard work, lack of money, and time that it takes to be an overnight success! I think I just said what you said! LOL!

wow i've been watching mykie for YEARS and i really never thought she had any weight on her at all, but i was just recommended this video again, even though i watched it when it came out and WOW you can see such a difference in her face since she lost her weight! her face almost looks bloated here, she barely looks like her. it looks like someone wearing a mykie mask!

you can just really see her progress from this video to her most recent one and she looks amazing. fitspo mykie!~

  13. Lizzie Mahler says

Her hair had me tweaking. I just wanted to tuck the left side back around until she did.

Congratulations on the magazine!!! I know I'm a year behind but just came across this video tonight. I started watching you and a few other SFX YouTube channels in about 2013. I was working at a boutique which allowed us to dress up for Halloween 1 week one year and 2 weeks the next. I got inspiration and ideas from you, a few other artists, and threw in some of my own ideas. I loved it so much, once Halloween was over I still wanted to continue. Oct/Nov 2014 I went to Comikaze and came across makeup schools from Hollywood doing demos. I watched the students from E.I. doing a couple X-Men characters. It was so amazing! They had a drawing and I was talked into putting my name on a card and entering it into the box. The school actually called me a week later, which happened to be my birthday. I was sure they called everyone who put their name down, but it felt like a sign since it was on my birthday. They told me I won a $1k scholarship to the school and asked if I wanted to take a tour. It all felt so Hollywood, but I took them up on a tour of the school. A week or two later I was walking the school realizing the people there were no different than me. I couldn't start then, had prior obligations, but I did start in June of 2015. I graduated from E.I. School of Professional Makeup at the end of May 2016. That was the best and hardest thing I have ever done. If I never went on with makeup, at least I was able to step SOOO far out of my comfort zone to do something I never would have thought I'd ever try. After graduation I was asked to attend a production meeting for a local (my home town) film production team. I, again, stepped out of my comfort zone and went to the meeting. Met some amazing talented people and have been working with this film team ever since. Since, I've done some short films, horror short film contests, a feature film, a project for PBS, and photography projects. I just wanted to take a minute to say, Thank you! Thank you for inspiring me to take my love of horror and Halloween to the next level. I was never into beauty makeup, but loved the idea of sfx. After makeup school I now love both and have done a few photoshoots that were a cross between gore and beauty. So, again thank you! You're such a lovely and inspiring presence online. <3

Yes I would love to learn FX makeup. Seems really hard, but I’m sure it isn’t once you know how to do everything. From applying prosthetics and the paints, to taking everything off properly. I would love to learn the right way even if it’s just a hobby. After February once I’m done with my vanity, I will be buying paints and prosthetics. But first I have to google where I’ll even buy these prosthetics first. N practice on my son for next Halloween so he’ll have the baddest, scariest face in school. Of course rated G 🤔🙄😂 thank you for these videos. This is the way I learned to properly apply makeup makeup. I’m getting wayyyy better then I was a Year a ago

  18. Caroline Maas says

I’ve been taking pictures all the time of all my makeup and my friends let me experiment on them because they know I want to learn and practice. I got a FX kit and and started to adjust steps in the tutorials or mimic a picture.

  31. Janice Azzopardi says

i study biology at university and i limit myself to just that because im scared to get myself out there and become good in something i enjoy doing. this was really inspiring for me to just get out of my comfort zone. I dont have to dedicate my life to biology. I can always have a passion on the side.

    Mykie
first off I had a dream a while back that there was a world-wide shortage of liquid latex and I think it's from beige watching your channel 😂😂 I LOVE your videos and channel 🙂 you're honestly one of my major makeup idols.
Idk if you already have a video like this, but I'd love to see a basic video on sanitation. I do makeup on friends occasionally and I make sure all my brushes and everything are clean, but i wanna make sure I'm being as safe is possible and that I'm sanitizing my stuff correctly and in a way that's not gonna mess with my brushes and products. (Also, idk how to sanitize products at all… 😭😭 or if that's even a thing😂😂)
much love 🖤🖤 and I hope you continue with your videos cuz theyve helped me learn SOOO much

  40. uniqueLeo08 says

Interesting that I'm just now seeing this video at the end of this year. I'm thinking about doing your 100 days challenge because I've loved fx makeup for years upon years… I'm not even interested in being a professional or get gigs… i just want to have fun creating. Loved this !!
