10 Wedding Challenge- Why Every New Photographer Should be a Wedding Photographer- Training Bootcamp

Join award winning wedding photographer Jason Lanier for a challenge that he makes to all beginner photographers or photographers looking to make a bigger impact and have success in their business. Do the 10 Wedding Challenge!! PLEASE THUMBS UP, SHARE, LEAVE A COMMENT AND SUBSCRIBE!!

Jason believes the best training ground for photographers to become well rounded is the wedding photography business. The best wedding photographers incorporate landscape, portrait, photojournalism, documentary, posing types of photography into their work for success.

They also learn to deal with deadlines, contracts, demanding clients, along with learning the pressure that comes with shooting a once in a lifetime event.

In this video Jason challenges newer photographers to shoot at least 10 weddings to help them become more well rounded photographers and to give them a bootcamp of sorts into what it really takes to make it in this industry.

While Jason understands not everyone wants to or is going to shoot weddings, the simple point is that newer photographers need to embrace the “I can do it” attitude that successful wedding photographers exhibit.

We hope this presentation and challenge helps and encourage you to consider it for your work and progression. We thank you in advance for watching and invite you to stick around and check out some more videos while you’re here.

Hi, i am against the wall i am looking to change from nikon to sony. I want to just have one system for photo and video so i am considering of getting either the a7r3 or the a73 for photos and wait for the a7s3 for video. Which would you recommend for pictures? The only thing thats making me From the a73 is that its not dual card slots.? 🤓

I just like it! I recently bought a camera, a kit for the studio, a portable monolight. light and learn more about my passion, but I told myself that I will not go into business, I just want to perform and be better with the photo. I just saw your video and I thought: why not! do some weddings and I'll try enjoy myself even if it is to be free at first as you said. thank you I like your channel and your photos you do is really perfect.

totally agree with you jason, i have been a wedding photographer for almos 10 years now, and i feel what you said, is not easy, but lots of fun, lrearning, doing mistakes, taking great and crappy photos, right now, i can do almost everything thanks to the experience that i gathered over the years, and yes, even now, i know i can increase my skills, and thats is about, right?

I've shot 6 weddings. Out of those only 2 actually planned time for photos. The rest were tightly scheduled (20 minutes for the ceremony, a couple hours tops for the reception, and bam it's over time to go home), they were kind of a nightmare, but helped me think on my toes for sure. Were they my best work? No. But with each one I got a little better and learned something new each time.

On Point!!!! I did my first Wedding 4 years ago, after never wanting to be a Wedding Photographer. Just as you said, it pays for what you WANT to do! I just ordered Sony a7iii and Sony Zeiss 55mm Lens, plus the Sigma MC-11 Adapter for Canon/Sigma Glass. I appreciate your honest reviews in helping me make the decisions that are so important to us. I hope to one day join one of your Workshops! Thanks Jason! I honestly love doing Weddings now. LOVE THE ENDING!!!! HAHHAHAHAHA!

For once i agree with almost every thing you said. But i would like to add a few things, firstly before you shoot some ones wedding & mess it up by learning on the job, ask an experienced photographer in your area if you can help them & learn from them, until you have gained a little experience & confidence. secondly be prepared, make sure you have enough batteries, memory cards etc as well as a spare camera body, and be honest with them, tell them you are just starting out & you are still learning. One other thing you can do is hire another photographer to help you with your first wedding.

I started advertising on CList to take up this challenge, and my add kept getting flagged. LOL. Jealous MF’s didn’t want to risk losing business.

Just completed 8 weddings, 1st thing I learned when I am worried a lot, it screws my work. Only when my professionalism was challenged that project went on to become 1 big hit for me. It did made me think to be professional, efficient, increasing accuracy of the photos I take. only thing I missed was macro shot, which I was unaware of. Now this video is making me more interested in taking that 25 weddings challenge. Thank you Jason for posting this video.

Hi Jason ….I love this video and I so agree with you . I love to travel and I got my 1st wedding because the couple saw my Africa photos …..I warned them….I have NEVER shot a wedding ….but I watched every video I could find …( alot of your videos ) …and tried my best ….YOU LEARN OUT OF FEAR !!!! you can't go back …you gotta not let down your couple….and now 6 weddings later ….I only want to do better, learning new techniques constantly …I can't think of anywhere you have to put all you know to use than at a wedding . The only people who think a wedding isn't a BIG DEAL …ARE THE ONES WHO HAVEN'T SHOT ONE .
