SONY A6000: The BEST DEAL in Photography

27 16

The Sony A6000 is the best deal in photography in 2017. There are some better cameras on the market, but for the $500-600 price point you cannot find a better camera. It’s still a bestseller on Amazon and other sites and there is a reason for this. It’s the best bang for your buck. Fantastic image and video quality, a good selection of lens options, size and portability, and super fast autofocus are all reasons why the Sony A6000 is king of the hill.

Don't know if the image quality from this camera is gonna be better than the image from our current camera, the 5DMK2.. By the looks of that photo at the 1:00 mark, it's looking like it ! lol..

    Heyy. Very informative video.
I am planning to buy the A6000 for making YouTube videos (Tech and product reviews) what lens would you recommend best for this purpose ?
By default it comes with the 16-50 and 55-210 lenses at a price point of 700$ all inclusive (India).
I am also planning to buy a Zoom H1 and mount on the hotshoe for better audio. Any better suggestions ?

Had a Canon M3 but sold it to buy a new lens, but on the market for a new mirrorless, but just wondering if it's worth taking the leap into the Sony eco system, that being said, there are more lenses on the market for this than the M series from Canon, but are they worth the extra cost?

is the Sony a5100 even better? cheaper price, better video quality since there is the new XAVC S codec up to 50mbps, 180 degree flip screen. The only 2 advantages of the 6000 over the 5100 are the EVF and the hot shoe, and again, the a5100 is cheaper than a6000 I believe. Am I missing something? Thanks for the great informative videos!

My biggest concern with this camera is if I were to get caught outside in the rain, would it get damaged??? I can't find any information if thus camera will die if it gets a little wet. Do you know possibly??

    Hey Dan!

I just got the Sony A6000. I was using a Canon 60D all these years. I travel and it was just to bulky for me.

I'm heading to Northern Norway in a week to chase the Northern Lights. I did buy the bundle that came with 2 lenses. I'm in the market to look for a lens to purchase today. Do you think the 35mm f1.8 would be the lens for me to purchase for the northern lights? Amazon is priced for $418 I seen it on eBay for a little less.

    Thanks!

  18. Jit Kapur says

Almost no one has pointed out that the hot shoe on the A6000 has exposed pins and not protected. Sony did not provide a cover for it. I have purchased a slide over cover with a bubble level, for 10$ CDN at Amazon.

  19. Jit Kapur says

Thanks for this review. Still searching for affordable sharp lenses !. Sony lenses are rather expensive. Presently using the Neewer 35mm f1.4 manual focus lens.

    Please review sigma 30mm 1.4 vs sony 35mm 1.8 on sony a6000

  24. Matthew Huizing says

The A6000 is no deal. Sony lenses are expensive and the APS-C E-mount selection has pretty poor cost/benefits. The 35 mm is more than many cameras with a kit lens, and the image quality seems to be worse than cheaper 35 mm lenses.

  25. Randy Johnston says

It's on the way with the kit and 35f1.8 lens. I read that the A6000 diopter can be corrected for clear vision without the need for glasses. Not sure if this is the norm but pretty cool! Thanks for the great reviews!

  26. Eric Saxton says

Thanks for reminding me why I like my a6000. I like to shoot it with my old Nikon & m39 lenses. Good recommendation.

  27. meta41 says

totally agree. loved my a6000 which got me back into photography, great images, so capable and what a bargain. replaced with a6500 (3x the $ … ouch) as i really needed IBIS for my many legacy/alpha/non-OIS lenses.
