Gareth goes hands on with the Panasonic Lumix S1, a brand new, full frame mirrorless camera from Lumix. Available here:

The Panasonic Lumix S1 is a fantastic hybrid camera with incredible video specs as well as boasting impressive photographic capabilities.

We were lucky enough to be able to take it out for the week to see if it could live up to the hype and we weren’t disappointed.

You can see more of our impressions on our blog here:

Key Features:
– 24.2 Megapixel Full Frame CMOS Sensor
– 4K video at up to 60 frames per second
– 1080p video at up to 180 frames per second for that amazing slow motion look
– Incredible dynamic range
– 6K photos at up to 30fps or 4K photos at up to 60fps
– High resolution photo mode
– 225 Autofocus Areas
– 6 stop Dual IS

We loved the S1 for video and photo, it has so much to offer and feels great to use.

This camera sounds fantastic I’ve been wondering why I hear next to no one talking about it. I’m a amateur photographer looking to upgrade into the pro realm of gear and I want to get into photography and this thing seems great I would love to know about some of the cons also:

A DSLM with the review-button on the left side is so stupid!

S1 crops x1.5'ish at 4k/60 fyi, but not at 24/25/30. No crop at 1080/180

  11. Yes but why name it this?

Or we could actually look with our own eyes at the world instead of constantly being pushed to ignore that and take a pic instead . People are obsessed enough already .

yea holy eff bro get some rest. great shots doe

  16. Elizabeth McLeish says

How is the low light video performance?

  17. Andrew Dennison says

Any adapters or speedboosters worth looking at to pair with other lenses?

For sports, would you say this camera is better than a GH5s?

  18. WSCLATER says

Ashy the annoying music running constantly in the background? All it does is irritate and distract from the speech. It's not even real music – just repetitive sound effects.

  19. Brian Cullen says

6:10 ARE YOU KIDDING!? "It feels small enough to ride the line between mirrorless and pro cameras" it's bigger than a Nikon DSLR FF.

  20. Kevin Fang says

Who is this fat dude keeps popping up before every video I watch.

  21. Avanchy says

Can it shoot in raw log?

  22. Rob Stammers says

And the battery….. with all that power you fail to mention how much juice this brilliant new Lumix camera uses. Great video.

  23. OpenDGuitar says

Very impressive for video…I still prefer Canon for stills (color). Been disappointed with Canon in video front.

  24. BD sexy says

Thank you Gareth for a lovely informative video. How is the autofoucs for sport subjects or wildlife moving subjects? I'm very new to photography so hope this question isn't too daft. Thanks mate lovely video again for an incredible camera.
