If you are into digital photography but prefer a compact camera then the Canon SX740 HS could be your best choice. It has a 40x optical zoom which makes it great as a travel camera also.
The Canon PowerShot SX740 can do 4k video at 25 and 30 fames per second and also has 5 axis stabilization.
Battery life seems average for this camera range and no mic input means it matches every other camera this size.
It has a flip screen though which is a big tick for vloggers or photographers that like to take a lot of selfies.
Is this camera better than the Sony RX100 mark 6? Well outside of having 120 fps, it has most other features including a superior zoom. This camera is in the range below the G7X mark ii so whilst its technically not direct competition to the Sony RX100 range, It is half price.
When you see the retail price of the Sony RX100 mark vi coming over the £1000/$1000. This little Canon Powershot will be welcomed when it is sold for under £500/$500 (i’m estimating the price as it should be cheaper than the G7X mark ii).

You will need to buy the camera first then claim cashback via Canon.
These are two different cameras. Canon is 1/2.3” sensor while Sony is a 1” sensor camera. Sony’s lens is also much brighter (aperture wise). These make Sony much better, especially in low light. If you want superzoom and use the camera mostly in bright light, go with this Canon. Otherwise, the Sony mk VI is much much better option.

Thanks Marlon, an enjoyable balanced video. This Canon looks very interesting, lots of great features including IBIS, 4k, flip screen, and very good zoooooom indeed!. Tiny sensor and no mic input but you can't have everything. P.s. subbed, us smaller channels need to stick together.
Canon needs thru charging on this via USB…I take it the battery has to be removed each time

Hi, I just bought this camera yesterday and am still trying to explore the functions. Am a noob with canon digicams. I have tried to disable all sounds on the camera but it seems that the shutter click sound couldn't be disabled. Is there a way to do it?

It has a smaller sensor that is immediately 2 f-stop disadvantage. The lens is also half a f stop slower lens so it is in a different category. I would not advice it as a primary camera. It can be a good add on to G7 X or G9 X.
They need to put a 1 inch sensor to make it a real rx100 rival
As much as I love this series, this is not going near any of Sony RX100, yes zoom is superb and the IS is even crazier judging from 730 hx.
