14:58 you made a mistake there…you said, you'd put the camera in Aperture priority and 1/60 second…but you can't set the shutter speed in that mode

hi, nice tutorial, I'm very new to photography, I'm using Canon 760d/T6s I'm in between to buy a flashgun from Canon and Yongnuo, obviously Canon flashguns are very expensive.

1.can I use yongnuo flash and trigger it wirelessly without the optical sensor of the flash?
2.which yongnuo flash model is compatible for off camera flash without needing a transmitter and receiver?

Very nice tutorial. I have a question though. Is there any way to get a catch light in the subject's eye, when bouncing the flash from a sidewall or from a reflector behind the camera?

With the nikon the first shot was at f/16 yet the background is blurry??

  26. stevepa999 says

I do not know if this will work with Nikon, but with Canon, when using a bounce flash, put it on manual mode. Enter the settings that you think with give you the best picture, and do not worry about proper exposure. If your speedlite is on ETTL mode, it will compensate to give you proper exposure. If you are not happy with the exposure just compensate the ETTL exposure plus or minus.

Trick photography is one of the friendliest subgenres of photography, because it gives “shooters” the freedom that they wouldn’t have if they practiced purely conventional photography. 🙂

Hey can you explain why it is important to shoot above 'normal sync speeds' (above 1/200 second)? I'm confused where this technique comes in handy, like outside or inside shoots, etc. Thanks
