Hey Anita, great video. For these commercial/campaign jobs.. what was the best way that you got in contact with those in charge of handling the campaigns? Did you email them? Call them?

  3. Lowel Bassig Donn says

Actually you don't earn that much… unless you are Annie Leibovitz.

  4. Dominic Pascal says

Thanks so much for this openness and information!

Stop with you mcdonalds pay rate nonsense please. Videos like yours is the problem why so many creatives put themselves into work for exposure hole. You can charge whatever you want but don't teach others that those are the rates, because they are not. The prices you talking about below the sea level. Might as well flip burgers for that kind of rate.

  8. Wellman Denis says

Good info. Maybe you should tell us on how you getting your client? I would love to hear that! 👍

Do you have any suggestions on how to work with Brands directly?

  11. Panda Love says

I don't like to say that, but tons of "fashion photographers" actually are "button clickers" in China, they only have 10% of your skills and taste but make more than 10K USD per project(LOOKBOOK) even make way more on campaigns and other AD shooting(approximately 30K-50K USD)
(I used to be one of them, you are absolutely better than me)

I strongly recommend you to try to cast some jobs there, or you can simply collaborate with someone there to open a fashion photography school, guarantee you will make 10 times income than your present. Coz you definitely deserve more than this

    Thanks for video
What do you think about stock photography? Thanks

The pay you mentioned were shockingly low. I would not want to be a fashion photographer if that was the case. Yes I do love creative process but I strongly believe you should get paid fairly (not poorly) for what you love.

Editorials in South Africa pay badly and you dont get any creative freedom. you basically have to copy some other photographers work. you are basically a paid camera operator. tests in south africa also dont pay at all.. you will be lucky to get $80 for a test in a city with very high living costs. we are flooded with so many photographers and models during season its an open market for freebies

  16. vitalis says

As a photographer do you have a lot of photographer friends or acquaintances?

  17. Jarrett Porst says

It’s truly best if we as photographers all agree to increase our pricing 300%. We must all think as one, act as one, lead as one. Then we can all benefit as individuals.

  18. Davey King says

Great tip and straight forward. Subscribed. 😉

  19. Irvin Wilson says

Anita, perhaps you're already doing this or have ruled it out but workshops might be something you'd find worthwhile. Get "X" number of people to pay $1000 for two or three days of learning about a particular subject. Your work and following are both certainly there. I would think you could do 5 or 6 people at $1200 each for two and half days with a small after party on third day. Or more $ and provide Airbnb type lodging or something. Anyway, just an idea I think people would be interested in. Your work is fabulous! Love your videos!

I'm wondering 150€ per day? You need a minimum of 500€ per day 5 days a week to get a livable income how do you survive??
