NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY AND BUSHCRAFT | First Frost, Birch Bark, Fire Steel and Campfire in the Forest

36 50

A short video without me talking – Just nature photography and bushcraft 🙂

I went to the forest to photograph the first frost and to enjoy a day out in nature. For the first time this season everything was covered in frost when I woke up.
After some macro or more correct close up photography I collected some birch bark and started a campfire with my fire steel so that I could enjoy some heat while having my tea.

If you like the combination of Nature Photography and Bushcraft please let me know in the comments.

••• WHO I AM •••
—————————

My name is Morten Hilmer and I work as a professional nature and wildlife photographer. I am passioned about Bushcraft, primitive skills and outdoor life and nature in general. My goal is to share my fascination with you and invite you behind the scene when I am out photographing the fascinating wildlife, doing my bushcraft or just spending time in the wilderness.
I have a huge respect for Nature and and as an ILCP photographer, I use my photographs as a tool to set focus on the importance of taking care of this amazing world.

For me nature photography is all about sharing the unique experiences and to put awareness to nature conservation. Furthermore my goal is to inspire as many as possible to get out and experience the true beauty of nature – either by doing bushcraft or by photographing – or both…

“I have served in the Danish military special unit, the Sirius Patrol, for two years and that has given me the skills and confidence to operate alone in the arctic regions. I have spent two further years in the northern parts of Greenland meeting the local people and working on photography projects. My driving force is a sense of adventure and my fascination for nature, and my curiosity and empathy for other cultures has led me to many remote regions.”

Read more about my time in the Sirius Dogsled Patrol:

Beside the many publications my photographs has been awarded in the Wildlife photographer of the year and European Wildlife photographer of the year photo competitions.

In spring 2017 I published my book Silence of the North:

See you out there !

All the best
Morten

@ Morten Hilmer Great video, I really appreciate your style and content. I am currently going through your video library and I have seen your gear guides and the link to your preferred/most used gear page, but the pants/trousers in this video do not appear to be the same brand as on your gear site. I think I've seen you wear them in other videos too. To my American eye they look like Fjallraven; if you or anyone knows the brand and also maybe the style I would really appreciate that. Please keep the great content coming. Best wishes.

Most people build large complex camp fires, I used to in my youth. But in truth it's much easier and more effecient for warmth and or cooking to build small fires. You don't see people do it often – when you do it's usually someone adept at being in the outdoors. Love the video brother.
