Contax 645 might be bad at focussing (it's late 90's early 2000's technology) but the real gem of that camera was in its lenses. However, that camera, as today as well as back in the day was and is simply too expensive, given that is extremely hard to fix if anything goes wrong – the company Contax was shot down somewhere in early 2000's, not too many copies was made, so parts are scarce, and not even that magnificent camera, along the Contax AX was enough to save that company in the looming digital age back then. On the other hand, there's many much more available and affordable medium format film cameras out there from Pentax, Mamiya and Zenza Bronica to name just a few…

I would have preferred to see Olivia use a TLR without AE! Something like a Mamiya, or Rolleiflex, when it comes to Film! Mainly when it comes to Film, I like an all manual Camera! Digital Photography is pretty much all the same! Not bad for a Video!!

  6. Roger Decker says

Great session. Digital seems flat, whereas film looks "alive".

  7. Big_B_Views says

I think this goes to show that there's room for every style and every format if you're willing to learn to use what you have and become skilled with it.

  8. Tj Nickles says

film and digital are great but I like film just a little bet more because the look of film is beautiful I love the look of film

Wow yet another eye 👁 opening experience +Photo-Me-Ike, Olivia has made me want a film camera 📸 for real now those photos in black and white were so amazing. I hate to say but the film 🎞 camera 📷 has a more pleasing effect on me the the digital camera 📸 did. I think 🤔 I’ll be selling a few of my professional camera bodies and getting a film 🎞 camera 📷 and a mirrorless camera 📸 soon. Thanks Ike for another awesome amazing video I really appreciate all your hard work 😓 that goes into making all of your amazing videos.

Waaaay back in the dizzle, I wanted to move from the east coast to the Pacific Northwest. I never did it. It's one of the top 3 regrets of my life. Everyone that I have seen you work with just seems so chill and low-key. Plus, I LOVE the fact that every place I've seen you shoot, the streets are virtually empty. I don't shoot people, however, out here, people (lots of 'em) are out in the streets the minute the sun comes up.

Ike, would love to see you shoot some medium format film (including the outtakes). There are many things to love about film, not the least of which is that you never know what you're gonna' get. A lot of the greatest, most iconic (film) images of the 20th Century were 'mistakes', that in the digital world would have been deleted.

Ike, my G, I am probably 15+ years older than you and stocky. I have been wearing BDU's/cargo pants for years. Once you wash them a few times to break them in, they're almost as comfortable as wearing sweatpants, you'll be able to easily bend, stretch, crawl in them, and you have about 8 pockets for holding a flash, lens caps, lenses, quick release plates, your keys, cell phone, credit cards, whatever. You should check out an Army/Navy store, as they're the type of thing I would not buy online. Different brands fit differently. I can't even be bothered to mess with jeans anymore.

Another thing I'd like to see (however, I don't know if this is your thing), something where you're contrasting these pretty, young models, against like abandoned, industrial sites (old buildings, factories, warehouses, that kind of thing). There are a fair amount of people on Flickr who do it. While, "there is nothing new under the sun", the contrast between old and new is interesting (to me).

    Keep doin' your thing playa.

Pulling is done during processing only, not during shooting. You’re just rating the film in camera and rating it at whatever iso you want. Olivia probably asked the lab to develop normally because C41 film pulled looks bad.

👁👂🏾👁👂🏾👁👂🏾 go ahead with that Wu-Tang

  23. Jim Penn says

Thanks Olivia, Ike and models for a fun shoot. Happy Thanksgiving 🍁! I think both film and digital are fantastic. I prefer digital for the convenience and turnaround time. My partner uses a D750 and I use A7iii. Same sensor on both if I understand correctly. The images are awesome from either camera. Ike, yer a hoot.

  24. 88omarz says

Great content bro, any reason you opt to go d750 as oppose to the z6, I know you're probably still testing but how's that coming so far, any noticeable caveats compared to the 750.. I ask because I thought long and hard between the two and ended up going with newer body z6 so far loving it, haven't had a shoot with it yet though… I look forward to your impression videos re the z6 doe! Happy Thanks Giving!

  25. Kpaulding Photography says

    Another great upload bro 🖖

  26. glennskitchen says

Great vibe to this video. Would like to see more of this stuff Ike. Happy thanks giving to you and the family.

  27. Minolta4Life says

Yeah film is a lot better at protecting the highlights. That's why she's overexposing because film sucks at lifting the shadows and black levels. Think of film like a Canon 5D Mark 3 sensor or a Canon 6D Mark 2.

For all you DSLR and Mirrorless losers out there heres a pro tip under expose to protect the highlights you clowns and shoot raw+jpeg all you clowns.

  28. Nikon sucks you should have bought a Sony;). Happy Thanksgiving bro

  29. Stanley Parrish Jr. says

    My man!

  30. J Hollandjr says

Brandon Cole said stop with the crazy headroom or the beef is on again. 🤣😆

  31. Cliff Medina says

    You the Man!

  32. atomikmaster1 says

    Straight from the bbq🔥 👍

  33. tony james says

Olivia's a talented photographer but as someone who started out in 1990 shooting film with 35mm, medium and large format this notion that film only can give you this look is incorrect.

  34. D-Mack says

Nice Ike, how long ago did you shoot this vid?

  35. NING NUO says

The D750 is an awesome portrait camera.

  36. J Cam says

Happy Thanksgiving Ike , fun session Bro , models were great , and some of the shots that didn’t make the cut were in my opinion pretty nice also .

  37. Mark Faust says

Doing film omg….. my darkest memories awoken. Hat off to doing that in 2018.

  38. Guil says

Happy thanksgiving! Beautiful shots and now I’m even considering film 🎞
