Fuji Instax SQ6 Instant Camera Review – Fun at any cost?

45 72

I bought a Fujifilm Instax SQ6. This is my video about it.
If you like the Square Instax film – The SQ10 might be a better option. At the moment on Amazon UK it’s £158.99
With the SQ10 you only print the pictures you want – so in the long run it will work out much cheaper to use.

americans getting mad at dry british analysis people getting offended over someone providing you a completely non-bias review. 'fun' has nothing to do with instant camera unless you are a 15 year scum who takes a cell phone pic of the polaroid anyways

  2. Doni Dino says

An organized, carefully thought-out review. Thank you!

  3. GierigerFisch says

Thx for nothing! It’s an instant film camera, not a smart phone chuckle
And indeed, most pictures I took, I guess with more skill, look way better still than all of yours.

  4. mariaphoebe lempesi says

Yo, if you dont like it can I have it?

  5. Roberto Rodriguez says

you can always break the tab on the back and use the empty cartridge to store the prints. no waste that way

  6. Bin Today says

The battery you show is 123 and it take CR2

  7. AuntyM66 says

I will get one when I am sixty.

  8. Verdoux007 says

As an analog shooter I hate to say it, but you just don't get it. It really is about the fun of taking the picture and unpredictability of the final result. Instax and Polaroid cameras are not meant to be replacements for your digital camera. Some people tinker with old audio equipment and others shoot with old (or in this case new) film cameras. Neither of those things makes any sense to a "normie", but we still do it.

  9. Sophie says

Also you can make a photo frame or photo storage out of the cartridge so you don’t have to throw it to the bin

  10. Sophie says

While using the filters use the L so the picture doesn’t turn that dark

Tbh I still think it has its Charme … I like imperfection and that the pictures are all unique and one of a kind , I took pictures with a Instax Mini during class trips and i enjoy looking back at the pictures from the instax, way more than the ones on my harddrive or phone … I mean you could make a photo book of trips and stuff but idk if this makes me sound like a hippy digital pictures just lack emotion for me … sure the quality could be better and the film cheaper but for me it's still worth it

  12. jesikebiking says

Techmoan ,use the film cassette as cheap photo frames ,did that back with my old Polaroids
    thanks for a great video

  13. Laura Fruit Fairy says

    Excellent review, thank you!

  14. Cyril ViXP says

Bad cameras are very popular nowadays. What a perfect time for a poor quality shitty brands, like Instax

  15. BG Hoody says

7:40 "Let's just have a look at this photo that I took also with my smart phone at the same time just to show you what it looks like on a smart phone just, uh, no reason." Awesome.

  16. Paola G says

Y’all in the comments, is everything good at home? Have you eaten? Have you slept?

  17. Paola G says

Ew, I’ve never read that many negative comments on a review about this camera as I read here. Y’all are just boring people. This photos have their magic and yeah it’s expensive, not anyone can get one but it’s worth it if you know how to use it.

  18. moviebod says

    It's like my Sony Mavicas

  19. jerwin says

Can someone help me why my SQ6 always captures blurred images? Are there defects within the camera?

  20. Luv Sharma says

By your logic, we have to spend more to get a cheaper photo,

  21. GoddessChu Jisooyaaa says

Its fun for us who loves aesthetic photos 👌😍

  22. Ridder van Doorne says

Good review, but again,..The quality of the Instax photo's are fine, i even sell them at my wedding shoots. Ppl love them, they even love them with imperfections caused by making a small mistake. jpg files are worth shit, but instax photo's are unique, that makes the costs per photo unimportant. Happy Shooting! 🙂 Ridder.

  23. The Tyttuutface says

I have an old Polaroid Cool Cam, and the pictures it takes are not only pretty unimpressive, but also expensive. With Impossible film, it costs about $3 per shot!

I like it because it's fun to use. I just wish I could get my hands on some cheaper film… maybe I could find some if I actually looked. 😛

  24. susan Ronin says

Took a few photos with this in a Venice bar at the weekend which i handed out. People adored them. I literally didn`t have to spend a cent on Guinness or Prosecco for the rest of the night such was the gratitude. In comparison, nobody shared the remotest interest my perfectly exposed, wonderfully sharp Galaxy Note photos. People adore these little square photos that they can hold in their hand.

  25. Dylan T. says

Hey everyone in the comments saying it's a waste of money or it's just a kids toy or for hipsters how bout y'all get off your superiority complexs for 5 sec and let people enjoy what they want i swear some of you are worse then audio files and vinyl snobs it's ridiculous.

  26. Ed Tillman says

Ha Ha. I am still laughing at your cost over time analysis. That may be one of the more entertaining bits you have ever done. Bravo, I have no intention of buying an Instax camera. but I enjoyed this review very much.

  27. Michael Turner says

Is that a French Minitel terminal the puppet is using?

  28. Daark says
  29. Ava Hall says

It’s pretty simple, if you know you don’t like instant film, which you did, don’t buy an instant film camera. You obviously won’t enjoy it

  30. Aidan Beals says

Great review! Some very good points and it is a shame about the plastic waste… must be a way to recycle it or reuse it properly? I think I will still be buying one soon!

  31. Sammy Fox says

I love your videos and your sketches are nice but why do the pupper sketches have to be so loud?

  32. El Comentador says

It's obvious that you're not going to take 1 million photos like on a cell phone, digital camera and you're going to have to take photos that really matter to you, and you're going to have to know that they're going to be great.

It is a very expensive price to feel like in the past, mmm meh I pass.

  33. Raben Chelliah says

I like how different comments were selected from a previous review and summarised in a few words.

  34. Karl Persson says

Thank you for curing my GAS

  35. Mike L. says

No no no, you're doing it all wrong.

  36. AirplaneRandy says

    fun is a buzzword

  37. Questionable Commands says

From now on, I'm only giving your videos a thumbs up if there's puppets at the end.

  38. Alfie AKA Ronaldog says

Instant cameras were for pre digital 'pornographic' photos. Confused why people need them these days.

  39. Cleverly Blonde says

You were using it wrong. You need to have this hanging around your neck but actually use an entirely different camera, hold a latte and smile smugly in profile. Also have maximum fun to your full potential.

  40. M Dat says

I think you also may need to consider that (in my opinion) these films are optimized for portraits, which you did not really take in this video. If you still have the camera, I would strongly recommend shooting outdoor portraits in some kind of shade or indirect sunlight. Even by a window (with flash OFF!) renders beautiful portraits. Consider looking up Matt Day’s review of the Lomo Instax Wide camera to see examples of what I’m talking about.

  41. Lukas Pfeifenberger says

For a decent hipster, this piece of junk is the mere definition of fun: photo quality from the 1900s, clunky format, ridiculous pricing and (ironically) tons of waste. It's all there!

  42. Helge Frisenette says

Instax Wide is the only format good enough to criticize. Now, if only there was a decent camera to shoot it with…

  43. Andrew Skow says

    Bravo!

  44. Casman says

    Camera hipsters are something else.

  45. Fonejacker says

I’m sure the quality of instant photos was better back in the 80s. Kodak did an instant film that was good.
