I never understand why pay more for the Nikkor F1.4 85m over a Zeiss 85m F1.4 planar?? its superior in every way! it just doesn't have auto-focus
Nikon 105 mm 2.8 micro 💕💕
i can shoot all the wedding with a 85mm 1.4 ! a beaast
Hi what is your best lens for details?
Hi, what else lenses you need like zoom lenses or something else
Thanks
So I just bought the Rokinon 85mm 1.4 (used in excellent condition).
It's strictly manual focus, and it was much cheaper than buying the Nikkor. But….. Would it be worth it to buy the Nikon lens, to use for AF situations where manual isn't always ideal?
Favourite portrait lens is my Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 Milvus optically, a little softer then the Otus and more Cromatica aberration but I prefer the bokah (no onioning) and it has lovely micro-contrast. Also it is weather sealed and has the option of clickless aperture, which makes it more practical for video.
Of course the Zeiss Milvus doesn't have AF, so my go to portrait lens for work is the 105mm f/1.4E ED, which whilst not quite as good optically (it is very close) or having the lovely build of the Milvus, does have AF, which makes it much more practical for every day use. It blows away the Nikkor 85mm f/1.4G, which I am not a big fan of optically (though I do like its size and weight compared to most modern 85mm lenses).
A special mention has to go to the Voigtlander 58mm f/1.4 Nokton which whilst not being perfect, has character. It feels wonderful in the hand, has great micro contrast and works equally well on full frame and on APS-C cameras (maybe even better for portraiture). Again it is a manual lens but it is possible to focus without using the focus assist on the D800 (something I can't accurately do with the 85mm) and it is wonderful on my Fuji when using focus peaking).
No review on the new Canon 85 mm f1.4 IS ? I just got it a month ago, but I don't see a lot of reviews on it. My experience with it is great though
Yeah I have that same lens the sharpness are on all corners, portraits perfection lens
Hi, I loved you video it was so helpful but ….
What about the nikon 85mm 1.8g with nikon d610 for portrait? Do u think it's good
because i feel like I'm gonna buy it this two weeks
And thanks again
Helpful! I love your work. 85mm is on my wishlist..
What I great channel you have here!! Such great informative videos!! I have a quick question, I own a wedding cake business and I need better photos of my cakes, should I get the 85mm 1.4 or the 50mm 1.4? Blessings!!
My favorite is the Nikon 85mm 1.8. The 1.4 is better but not enough to matter to me.
How about nikon 85mm f1.8g for beginners?
nikon 105mm f2.8 micro vr
ultra sharp and can also be used for macro purposes 🙂
I would like 85 & 35 mm. (Use 50 & 70-200)
Thank you Joy Michelle!! You are so awesome. & inspiring.
nikon 105mmDC f/2
hi can u please help me to buy lens for portraits photography under £900 pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee
I found this lens Samyang SY85MAE-N 85mm F1.4 Lens for Nikon AE, do you think it might work?… for Nikon?, I mean it's like 3times less expensive than the NIKON one, what do you think?
Luckily my Wishlist is complete got 35,58,85 1.4, 24-70 and 70-200 FL and my fav is also 85 1.4g if i have to pic two that would be 24-70 and 85 🙂
Hey! When you made this video were you using a DX or FX body? Thanks!!!
Thank you very much.
Nice review, short, precise, Beautiful. Have you ever used sigma 85 f1.4? What's ur opinion about it when compared to the Nikon 85.or the Sony G master.
can you please do a comparison review on these lenses.?
I currently use the 85 1.8G, but eventually I want to upgrade for the 1.4 for the much creamier bokeh. I can easily sacrifice the sharpness of the 1.8G for the much more pleasing rendering, skin colors, and smoother background of the 1.4G.
I absolutely love your channel! Your style & portraits are my fav! I'm starting out and I don't have the largest budget…Could you do a video about best budget lenses (Nikon)
Awesome!
Love this lens in the 1.8. Definitely a winner
This is great! And so are you! 🙂
Hey Joy Thank you so much for the awesome videos, i love your work! Nikon 50mm 1.4 is my favorite lens and it is on my wishlist.
Super helpful! Thanks for sharing!! 🙂
I shoot Canon but have used Nikon before and I agree with you, the 85mm focal length is fantastic!!
Have you tried the 105mm Macro? You will love it for detail shots!
I love hearing this! I personally use my 50mm 1.4 all the time; like I barely take it off but I love my 85mm as my backup!!!!! This is so great! I love your channel Joy!
Hey Guys! What are your favorite portrait lenses?
