Why does it cost so much? Should I go for a cheap deal? How much time is really involved? Today I talk through the reality of shooting a wedding.

3 days for editing photos!? Wtf this amount of time is insane!? Total of 6 days to shoot!? That seems crazy. And I am getting into wedding videos. Which I feel like takes much longer to edit a wedding video than it does for photos

In india…people are shooting weddings for 3 days in 300-400 dollars…and it includes photography, videography, album, and video editing…everything…:)

Some truly great info Mate. Im going to start taking photography classes next semester and one day want to be able to do this as a side, or perhaps full time if pre pharm doesnt work out, career and always wanted to know how to price. Ill start doing weddings in maybe a year or two but until then will go as a backup with some photography buddies so I can learn how it works. I currently dont have a dslr but will buy one for holidays, so ive been using university dslr. Whats a good price to charge would you say for regular shoots? I want to be able to do like super deals for students here at siue like $1 dollar shots where ill edit the photo and shoot a single pic for a dollar. I think id like that.

I believe he mentioned this in one of the other videos. He culls, does a basic edit on a lot of pics (i think he said around 300/400, supplies them watermarked. Then the bride and groom make a selection, he edits them then hands them over un-watermarked

When you give the final product do you give a disk or just the photos themselves.

I've done a fair share of weddings now, and I must say it's a shock to the system just how much time it takes. I did one Saturday just gone, a 12 hour day, it'll probably take ~15 hours to sift through the 1600 shots taken and select and edit them. Half a day was spent getting to and meeting the clients for pre wedding chat/expectations and and another half day to drive to present them. That's 4-5 days work. I'm building a portfolio and I've been out of pocket for just about every wedding shot.

lol, how can you do a wedding in 6-8 hours if the wedding lasts 10? unless you have some space time technology you want to share with us that's kind of impossible…unless of course the wedding is only 6-8 hours but if the wedding is longer and you spend an hour or two before the wedding starts getting shots of the bride and groom getting ready then it's pretty easy to get into the 10-12 hour range.

A really good video outlining a number of really important issues. I don't think many people really realise the amount of time and effort that goes into really good wedding photography.

I have also seen many great pictures "ruined" by someone being slightly out of focus, or blinking, or not quite looking the right way, or whatever. Never hurts to have several of each shot. More is always better than not enough. I take 2000 pictures in an outing, easy. Sure i may only keep a quarter of them but at least i have options.
