Jim Croce : Photographs And Memories

Jim Croce : Photographs & Memories : Classic Hits (2004)

Photographs and memories
Christmas cards you sent to me
All that I have are these
To remember you

Memories that come at night
Take me to another time
Back to a happier day
When I called you mine

Chorus:
But we sure had a good time
When we started way back when
Morning walks and bedroom talks
Oh how I loved you then

Summer skies and lullabies
Nights we couldn’t say good-bye
And of all of the things that we knew
Not a dream survived

Photographs and memories
All the love you gave to me
Somehow it just can’t be true
That’s all I’ve left of you

(Repeat Chorus)

What a beautiful song…When I first picked up a guitar I told my teacher I want to learn this song. A lot of people don't know Jim's partner and guitar player also died that day his name was Maury Meuhleisen (I hope that's right he was a great musician) That chunk of wood & strings has taken me around the world, but I'd never fly in a small plane, for obvious reasons. What a loss.

This song is gorgeous yet devastating. I find it hard to listen to because it cuts so deep.

Jim was my Dad's favorite musician. My Dad had a guitar attached to him at all times. He played Jim everyday. All his songs. i knew them all by heart all through my childhood and young adult life. I miss my Dad, and I hear his spirit in Jim's songs.

  22. Scott Tittle says

I saw Jim and Maury Feb 2, 1973 at Harper College in Palatine, just a few rows back from Maury. This then 16 year old was captivated by their music and stories that night- and especially Maury’s amazing guitar work. They were on ABC “In Concert” that same night right after I got home from the show. They immediately headed for the top from that night on, only to be lost later in September of that same year. It still saddens me as I write this, now at 61 years old. What incredible music those 2 young guys could make……I wore their albums out.
