Great tips! Also, side note, my best friend growing up was Joy Michelle, so I'm that much more happy I found you 🙂

Really amazing content, I'm following your channel for some time now. Regarding the current video and the first email, don't you think that phone and face to face consultations with potential clients can eat up a lot of someones time? Just to make sure I am correctly understood, meeting with couples in person is one of the most important starting points of a successful cooperation, yet some time ago I also used to push for personal or skype meetings and because we were not sending out all the details right up front, quite a few times I ended up meeting with people who were looking into something different ( they did not had the budget for 2 videographers, were looking for longer wedding edits than what we had to offer and other potential scenarios ). This is also tricky when you have a lot of requests, as lot's of requests will end up in quite of few meetings / phone / skype calls and that time can add up during a week or a month for example. So basically I've came to the conclusion that sending out a detailed brochure would help eliminate these and 99% of the time when I skype / meet face to face with a couple the result is a contract after this. Obviously there are certain elements that make the "not reveal everything in the first email strategy potentially more efficient" but does this gain in efficiency / maybe extra bookings outweigh the extra effort put into the many phone / skype / personal meetings ? Thanks a lot, Kalmar Gyula – Transylvania 🙂

Love this video and I am still getting used to Honeybook, but I do love it! I'm always so worried that it might accidentally send something to someone that I don't want it to. Do you click "approve before sending" on anything – like if they inquire but you are not actually available on their date?

Beautiful video! Any alternative to honeybook? What did you use before investing in a client management software?

  5. Yeisha Sarceño says

What sort of "goodies" do you send to your clients in that welcome box? 🙂 I'm always stuck on this!

Joy, I love all your videos, it's like you're literally in my head answering all my new questions each time I watch your videos. I will be re-watching so many of your videos with a book and a pen, because there is so much to take from them. You are so creative, talented, and the sweetest soul for sharing all of this valuable information. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

Do you do print sales to? I been asked in the last 3 weddings for prints from the wedding package. I put the album up after the bride and groom images were handed over etc, and I got sales straight off, but I see issues with the image printing when I am not controlling the album creation or prints etc. Do you think it’s worth offering it?

  9. Abby Daughtry says

Do you think you could ever do a video on how you personalized the canned emails & automated responses because the ones that are already on Honeybook don't seem like they are the best. 🙂 I really just want to see an example of what your workflow on there looks like once you get an inquiry from the contact form! I am have a really hard time tweaking them & setting up the whole automated workflow part where one thing triggers another, and so on.

Hi Joy! I was wondering what your 'direct galleries' were/are that you send to potential clients right off the bat?

  11. Shane FERRIS says

Thanks! Great info.. do you ever do a non-refundable deposit before the contract?

  12. M and W productions says

What do you say in your emails? Do you give them youre pricing in the first email? Because I am sorta afraid to send a reply with just my pricing… they usually don't reply after they get that. Is there a way I can keep them communicating?

  13. CrystalLightLife says

Can you go over what you write in your pre written client emails? like a template or something similar?

Binge watching some of your older videos… working on all of my contracts now. Did you write them yourself or do you have a lawyer you work with?
