There are bows and then there are Lady Gaga bows. Four-year-old Marcella Marino chose the latter for a school photo, only to end up in tears, according to her dad.

The British primary school student asked her father, professional hairstylist Marcello Marino, to make her look like a princess for her upcoming class photo. The salon owner went more rock princess than Cinderella, and tied his little girl’s long blond hair into a tilted bow, a look popularized by Gaga back in 2009.
Marcella loved the look but her school didn’t, according to the Daily Mail.
“When she went for the school photo on Monday she was told she wasn’t allowed to wear her hair in that style because of the dress code,” Marcello told the British paper.

Continued (see below),My point is, the school makes a big proud point of wanting to develop independence and self esteem, and then they tell my child his appearance (his independent hairstyle), is inappropriate.
To me, it is denying him his freedom of right to be independent. I wonder if any of the teachers have visible hairstyles, tattoos or even dress-styles which I can object to. (Not that I normally would object).But, just to make my point, if you see where I am coming from! Replies welcome
We just had a call from our child's school, saying his Mohawk was inappropriate for school. This is two weeks after school term started. The school dress-code says nothing about hair-styles, except for long hair in cookery and sports.
It is only some of the teachers that have a problem with this, most of the teachers told my son his hair was cool. My sons friends all love his hairstyle too. Other children at the school also have unusual hairstyles ranging from totally shaved to colors in them.
Damn I wish I could make my hair do that for my school pictures.

Loved her hair & yes it ticked me off too! Ridiculous! Well I read the article when it came out & apparently braids, beads etc are not allowed in the school….What?? Come on now! We've got so many other problems in the world today to worry about, to make rules about but this is NOT one of them. She looked adorable & they made her cry this is just wrong no matter how we slice it!
If I'm not mistaken their policy said no braids. This gorgous style is a bow not a braid. What is wrong with those stupid people, they were jealous of her & used extreme measures. That poor little girl was devastated, and I'm glad that the world knows about that stupid school & their dress code, of which the little girl was NOT guilty of breaking.

I am British and I totally agree with Kevin…my 7 year old grandson was told he couldn't go to school with hair gel on…who cares what their hair looks like?…it's just another way of not letting children be individuals.
