5th Grade Science Class – Rube Goldberg Machines (Video & Photos)

For our unit on Gravity (NGSS 5-PS2 Motion and Stability: Forces and Interactions) the engineers at Oaklawn made Rube Goldberg machines. Using only the energy source of gravitational pull, they created machines to complete the task: input one wooden color cube and output another color cube. The machine had to fit in the dimensions of a large pizza box (Special Thanks to Jeff’s Pizza in Menomonie – I recommend the Cordon Chicken pizza) and have a theme – preferably a science theme.
