First make selection of the background using ‘Color Range Tool.’

select the plus eyedropper, and click to sample the colors you want to include.

Add color lookup adjustment layer in order to add a color to the background.

Why would you do it this way? All you have to do is use Color Range to indicate Background area to change. Once you click "ok" to close Color Range a selection is created. Use the Quick Selection tool and paint Black on areas on the bodies and shirts, then use Color Look-up and you're done.
