Why is photography of small things called macro photography? The Webster dictionary definition of "macro" is "of, involving, or intended for use with relatively large quantities or on a large scale." The Webster definition of "micro" is "involving minute quantities or variations." A microscope is not called a "macroscope." Why is there this confusion between these two words in photography? Tony, Chelsea?

Tony and Chelsea, I have a Canon 35mm f/1.4 lens and a Canon 50mm f/1.2 lens and lately I have been thinking about using them with extension tubes. Is it okay and safe for the lenses? I have a true Macro lens Canon 100mm 2.8 but I would like to use a wider angle of view. I would appreciate the help. Thank you.

@15:28 But they are diamonds. Center is your typical 0.8ct yellow/white diamond, the other ones are all grey diamonds. I did the best I could lighting it up but all I have for lighting is a cheap little USB LED lamp and the flashlight on my phone. Next time for sure I'll try to get more light on it.

+Tony Northrup Could I suggest that you include the photo submission password in your video description (and not just within the live stream), please — because I was all set to submit a macro photo last week but missed the first part of the live event, as I happened to be attending hospital A&E at the time. I only had my phone with me then but, although I could have uploaded an image, I couldn't rewind the stream well enough to see the tiny password. Cheers!
About the modern lenses being `flat`. It` one of the lunatic ideas pushed by Ken wheeler and some other crackheads. They claim that the old lenses give a `3D` effect or something. Never seen anyone take the exact same picture with the only variable being the lens. Ken wheeler takes a wide angle shot with a modern lens and then a 200mm shot with an old one and goes `look at the difference!`.
