at the moment there would be no point in me carrying around an instant photo printer, as in order to print a photo from my only camera (don't have a phone with a decent camera at the moment) it would involve carrying around (at a minimum):
    1 Digital Camera
1 USB on the go adapter
1 tablet which supports USB on the go (most likely would need to be android)
1 USB to mini USB cable
    1 instant photo printer

so overall it would be a minimum of 5 devices

The Instax is so eco unfriendly, and Zink is just the paper, that hasn‘t got a cartridge out of plastic that you have to throw away. Zink paper is also much cheaper, easier to trasport, and it has much better resolution, is faster in processing… and much more. I wouldn‘t ever buy a Instax.

This is an analog instant camera? That's so cool! I saw it in the shops and thought it was just a digital camera with built-in printer. Fujifilm must tweak their marketing. Instax is clearly far ahead of Polaroid.

I have a Polaroid big shot (and my last 7 packs of film in my fridge) and a instax wide 300 my sister gave me for my birthday. I had 6 new sealed packs of Polaroid image/Spectra from 2001 and when I tried to used them they were all dried out 🙁

To me it looks like you have no clue how to operate a film camera,

So Fuji kills off real old instant photos that take 90 seconds or less to develop depending on if you have a strong arm or not .. the one I have the batteries only operate the cube flashes which are mostly gone to ebay.. But I swear those peal away photos are way better than the electronic type from either Polaroid (b/w er more like brown and white, is better but hey when they come up with film packs that Fuji killed off in an effort to focuse on the instax and mini I'm more like WTF. I don't even really need batteries with my old Land Camera Polaroid, just a semi strong arm, not superman strength that might break it. … as for zink 1 too small 2. odds are if I laminate that I'm in deep trouble 3. prefer Dye Sub prints. Much clearer although the Olympus cube er P-10 or whatever was way better than the Canon Selphy's which after pushing Canon on it a tad I got a replacement 6 months past the warranty expiration. As many tend to get the Canon screen of death. Which just says Canon and doesn't go anywhere and won't bother to shut off. Interestingly I sent in my 1200 and got a new 1300 back

Back to Fuji. And Polaroid Originals now , like say audio tape, some prefer old camera's. Just something about the character. Sure CD's are wow quality or FLAC but Vinyl is just as fun. And Paint it Black never sounded so good. (it's Mick's birthday why not)

I think the fuji camera is supposed to look all blury and bleached. It is meant to give it a vintage feel and look to it

  9. Indie Pulse says

The Fuji is really geared towards youth that don't have experience with good cameras or may not have a phone with a,quality camera.

Realise this is an old vid but anyway: the Instax film is optimised for portraits – it does skin tones very well and tends to be flattering. Take it to a party and snap everyone – people will love the shots of themselves. The film has poor latitude and 'resolution', plus the lens is essentially fixed-focus, so it's easy to get poorly exposed / out-of-focus / soft photos. But it's very good at human faces.

I like the LG Pocket Printer, I just browsed them on eBay & can buy a pink one with 90 sheets of printing paper for $205 AUD. A very considered birthday or Christmas gift this year…….Fingers crossed 🤞

  13. Sakura Pablo says

That blue paper that’s in it is a calibration paper that is in any zink paper products for the items that use the zink paper.

  14. Scott McClure McClure says

That Fuji camera kind of antiques the photograph

  15. LordWilsonVILLA says

Thanks, you've saved me a small fortune on a Fuji Mini 8 camera and 100 prints. The results are not good enough for the outlay.

  16. Adrian K says

I've got the instax mini 90 and it took me a few shots to start to get the hang of it, you have to test the different settings and eventually you'll get to the point where most of your shots are good ones with decent quality, certainly a lot better than the ones you've got there. But you need to play around with it first to understand that.

  17. Justin Koenig says

Why does the instax one look so out of focus?

  18. Anthony McDevitt says

You should have gone into the technology behind the Zink paper. I never knew you could do color with thermal paper, tha's some really cool shit. You should do a separate video at least about it.

  19. flashbang says

Hey mat can you do a video on the old cameras that do that (i know the name i cant spell it tho) like for my generation who have no idea that this what kinda the norm

  20. Gabriel87100 says

    Fuji photos look aesthetic

  21. Zach Mueller says

I know it's already been said, yes the lg looks better. I just want to take into account cost. The I phone you have is about 600-700 dollars, plus the lg printer is about 100 dollars. The Fuji now is down to around 80-100 dollars. Is the ratio of image quality justified by the price. By the way, I own an iPhone and a mini 90 so I'm not on a "side". Great review as always!

What about thermal paper? It's cheap and instant.

  24. KristiChan1 says

    I like both.

    Nice memo, lol.

  26. Cassidy Moore says

I think instant cameras are gimmicky, fun things to shoot around with. Obviously, if you're a serious photographer, you will have a DSLR or mirrorless camera that you depend on for quality. But I think for fun, it's much more enjoyable to take a picture with an instax than to whip out a photo printer and do all that business. lol You can't really compare the two from first impressions because there is a tiny learning curve with the mini 90. If you take the time to learn the settings properly and optimize them, you can get quite nice little photos!

  27. RC Hobbyist Extreme says

You seemed a bit Biased right from the start. After watching your video,I would have no problem operating the camara. It seems much better than the Polaroid camara anyways. The printer seems ok, I never like all the extra junk generated by these camaras. I wonder if I could use the printer on my phone,I dont see why not. I figured it would only be a matter of time before the market produced a printer that sized for your phone.

I wasn't aware of the Zink mini inkless printer, and, being a fan of the less streamlined, gizmo-littered versions of the cyberpunk genre (more "Burning Chrome" than "The Matrix"), it really strikes my fancy.

My go-to guilty pleasure bad movie is Johnny Mnemonic, and a favorite scene shows Just Johnny clicking together a number of devices to form a download system to his brain implant, along with encryption and image-based password security. A tiny printer amongst the gadgetry spits out three photos, the decryption code. To me, that's cool.

Early cyberpunk role-playing games imagined similar portable gadgets for the "console cowboy" or corporate soldier on the go (or the run). James Bond has always been equipped with Q's concealed technology. In the Eighties, the compact Sinclair ZX80 computer had a line of similarly sized peripherals. Throw in the fascination all men have for devices in general, and that explains why I'd love to have that printer in my pocket; besides its obvious utility, it has that cyberpunk cachet.

  29. Julian Stockmeier says

The blue paper sheet doesn't cleans anything, it just adjusts the thing 🙂

  30. inyojelly says

I've taken some good pictures using Instax Wide cameras. Good as in "interesting", rather than "sharp" or "exposed correctly". Just a bit of fun, really. Wish film was cheaper, though, that would make it even more fun!

  35. Aleatha Vogel says

That long exposure mode (called "B" mode by this camera) is really useless without an external shutter button. I don't care how careful you are in pressing the shutter button on the camera, you are going to move the camera slightly when you do so thus ruining your exposure.
