I have to agree, The equipment is far less important then the talent and creativity of the photographer. I tend to shoot with  "lower end" DSLR's. I love my little XTi, and I find there is little I cant do with it. But just to go to the extreme end of the spectrum here, this summer I lost the XTi on the bus on my way to Santa Monica Pier for a beach shoot. (I was able to rerieve it later) So when I got there all i had with me was my first DSLR, a Nikon D100  (6.1 megapixels) with a cracked kit lens. but with a more then a little effort I got some really great shots with that dinosaur that are still front row center in both the model and my portfolios.

Its the lens that matters .. any camera body can make good images if you know what your doing.

I shot my first wedding with a D80. It did ok for me but it hard to get usuable quality when shooting anywhere at or above 800 ISO. now I use a D7000 and I'm comfortable with its capabilities.

Hi, I'm about to shoot my first photography make up but i'm just using Nikon D3100 and a 18-55 mm kit lens. So I'm not a pro. I just want to know if there's other issues with Nikon D3100 when it comes to resolutions and sharpness. Somehow I'm having problems with it.

And any tips on how to shoot photography makeup?

    Thanks thanks 😀

Canon Xsi with kit 18×55, 50mm 1.8 and sigma 50×200
For portrait and glamour work 12 megapixels are fine. I also use vivitar flashes in manual mode so my total outlay is under 2k. Easy to make a profit that way and it lays the bills. Thanks for sharing. I have seen the video before but just now commented. Love your videos.

I am new to photography. I purchased a D5100 with an AF-S NIKKOR 35mm 1:1.8G. I have been having a blast taking pictures of the family and nature. People have been complimenting my photos on facebook.

I shoot nude/glamour with a Nikon D7000 after years of shooting with a D700. And for me, I find that I get more consistent results with the D7000–and most people would swear that I'm an amateur because of the my camera body. Furthermore, some of the best shots I've ever taken were taken with an old Nikon D40x, and also a non-DSLR Fuji S3100. The truth is, it's the photographer and lens used, not the camera. The camera is just a tool that makes it easier for someone to display their talent!

I am a professional photographer myself, published countless times with a Canon T2i and a $100 50mm 1.8 prime. Granted I shoot glamour not landscape but have made enough money in one month from my pics to upgrade to the full frame cam and L series (thousand dollar) lenses plus every imaginable attachment, I just haven't found the need.
You can be a pro with such equipment. It is the photographer. Not the equipment. My little thousand dollar setup has humiliated many a $10,000 kit.

And remember, if you don't shoot manual, giant ants will appear and kill you. Save a life, shoot manual.

I shoot with a Nikon D5000 but the images can sometimes turn out really good! I do feel like my stuff would be a lot better with a better camera, mind you I'm only 15 haha.

@mikenacute – The Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 OS is MUCH better than the Tamron. I tried 3 different Tamron 17-50mm lenses and couldn't get one that was sharp at f2.8. My Sigma is TACK sharp at f2.8.

  19. Michael Cobarrubias says

W/c is better a Tamron or Sigma 17-50mm?

    Exellent point , I have 7D , D550 , G11 and s95 from canon , also some lenses from canon , segma and tamron .
All of them are great if you use the right setting and a perfect moment to shoot .
