Great videos Ben. Always a pleasure, your humble, honest and hard working approach to your photography is very inspiring.

  2. John Haswell Photography says

Although the day was rushed the video didn't seem rushed at all. It was fluid and really well set out.

I have been learning your great video. Thank you! Ben Horne.

Outstanding storytelling, this content should be on Netflix.

  5. Jody Farms says

Has Heaton been rubbing off on you for video thumbnails? Love it! Can't wait to get cozy with the wife and get into this series.

  6. Graham Green says

It's taken me a while to be able to come and watch this series. I had planned a trip to Zion this year around the same time, unfortunately 3 days before I was due to leave my car was stolen which put an end to my entire trip. I was devastated as I had been planning the trip for months and I'm just now coming to terms with the missed opportunity. Thank you for sharing your experience and the wonderful images you captured.

  7. Edgar Feliz says

Looking foward to getting the box set. Last year's book was awesome, thanks for taking us on your journey.

Ben, love your work and the quality of your production, your voice is very soothing, captivating, profound, a broadcasting narrative characteristics.
What kind of microphone were you using during the outdoors video shoots? What mic was used during your post and editing? What kind of cameras used? editing software? and pretty much, how about if you list your gear, with an affiliate link through Amazon or B&H photo, so you can help people with gear, while you get contributions to help support your channel and journey as well. Thank you!

Awesome Ben, I’m really excited about this series. I’ve bene following the lead up to your trip and hearing that the colours have turned early. So I can understand your excitement and eagerness to get out there and start exploring. I love that location you returned to, it look like the trees are bending out of the way so the rock can be unobstructed in the image. The contrast between the vibrant autumn colours and the dark textures of the rock and tree trunks is a really strong component in the image you captured and complimented the composition nicely. Great work mate!

That first little speech was poetry.

A great image and I relate to the rushed video content. Photo's always come first 🙂 Can't wait to see the rest of the series.

  13. I absolutely love your videos, Ben. And your process, creativity and patience are truly inspiring. Thanks for such great content!

Thomas Heaton sent me here. Thanks for letting me tag along on your trip 😉

Looking forward to seeing this unfold, Ben. I severely messed up autumn this year due to factors outside of my control but it will be great to see what you come up with!

  17. Andrea Phillips says

Hi Ben. Thank you so much for your channel, your photos and your stories. You inspired me to make my first trip to Zion this year, and it was FABULOUS. We missed the peak fall color, and got blown out early by a sandstorm and cold weather, but we had a great time. I can't wait to go back.

  18. Steve O'Nions says

A great start, can't wait to see more.

  22. Carlos Cuervo says

After watching your videos last year I decided to head to Zion this fall. I got there in October 15th and the leaves were already falling down. I got very nice shots through the Narrows and into the east side of the park.

    Love your videos btw

  23. David Glandon says

To know the subject or area intimately is so underrated these days. In my observation of photography of the day is to hit the most exotic place on the planet and photo the hell out of it, get it up on the web, get a lot of likes and be famous. And that is find for some people but for the majority of us who can't do that we are left with the everyday scene. So the strategy that should be talked about is really getting to know the subject well and seeing things others miss in the drive-by. You are one of the few people that have a few specific places you are known for and one would think that in your portfolio the same images would be always there, but that is not the case. I see images that I know that no one else is getting or will get because you know the area very well. Know the subject intimately, better the photographer you will be. That is what I find here and that is a lesson that needs repeating. Keep rocking the images.

So serene, so beautiful! Looks like a pretty start to another great visit in Zion. The part where the air is blowing and the leaves are falling makes you want to be there! 🙂 (would also make for a cool photo if you could get a a faster shutter speed, maybe with some portra 800, hehe)

  25. David Rothschild says

Your trips are always very rejuvenating to experience here. I know you work hard to make these ad-free videos, thank you Ben. It's counter-intuitive but have you ever considered making some of your Fall color shots using black and white film? It's something I felt the urge to shoot in Virginia this year to capture the tonal range in mono. Of course I shot color too. I'm looking forward to the next video.

  26. Photo Holic says

Can't wait to see the results and the stories behind of your journey !!

  27. Oz Baz says

We went to Zion April 2017 on our trip to the US. I had vaguely heard of it before traveling but decided to visit for a few hours. A truely beautiful experience. We will be going back. That whole region of the US is stunning.

  28. Prashant Khapane says

Don't remember last time I was waiting for an episode like this. May be a game of thrones or stranger things. And now yours Ben. Looking forward

  29. Stephen Lloyd says

Man that’s such a sharp shot. I feel like I could walk into it!

I’ve driven the I15 twice now, 2012 and again this year, and all the wind turbines and solar arrays that have sprung up is mind blowing. That solar plant just outside Vegas you filmed is eye catching. At the right time of day it looks spectacular.

  30. spnnnr says

This is a fantastic video! I watched it 3 times and think will return to watching it again and again. Such a great feeling after the opening sequence, I have no words. Thank you, Ben, for sharing not just your experiences but the feelings. And thank you for being so true. Can't wait to see the rest of your adventure 🙂

  31. Andreas Larzon says

Great video again Ben. Even though you felt it a bit rushed in sometimes i think this was one of the best openings you have done. Looking forward to see more of your adventures.

  32. Dodtbdm says

I’m doing to the same but with Death Valley. Next year will be my 3rd year straight camping out and taking pictures.

  33. paul trunfull says

As Alan said looking forward to the rest of your trip. Nice to see you back in your natural habitat.

  34. Alan Brock says

Driving AND a shot on the first day is very impressive! I can see how that would be tiring though. Looking forward to the rest of your trip. It's weird. Even though technically I was in Zion this year, I feel so out of the loop. I have no clue what everyone was doing there, so these are all new to me!!

  35. PB Salfen says

Awesome video! And photo. Looking forward to "The rest of the story".
Only eight hours? It would be twice that for me. Only slightly less to Death Valley.
(But then the new Oregon "hands free" laws are stricter than CA now.) 😉

  36. Andy Keeble says

Great stuff! I have been really looking forward to this new series Ben and can’t wait to see what you got up to this year!
I hope you’re keeping well mate, take care.🍀👌

  37. Mike Morgan says

"It is best to go into a trip with an open mind. To be inspired by what I see."
Thanks Ben, I couldn't have said it better … !

  38. Alan Crossland says

I've been looking forwards to you posting your fall trip Ben. Great to see you out on the road again. Impressive colours, most of us would have walked past that composition, you have a real eye for detail and a scene.

  39. Lars says

Great! Makes me wanna come back!

  40. Nick Swisher says

It'll be interesting to see what you were able to make with the limited amount of fall color that was left. I remember going to a maple grove similar to this one on the last day of my trip but I wonder what it would have looked like if I had gone to it earlier. It was nice that fall color was great in The Narrows though since there were plenty of areas I hadn't photographed there. It was funny to see you drive that road that I drove into the park on that same day. Looked exactly as I remembered it and one of those window shots was just like one I had taken haha. I'm really looking forward to more of your videos from this year because I'll get to compare my experience to yours. Can't wait to see more!

  41. Jerrad Pulham says

Nice! Looking forward to the rest!

  42. Mark Denney says

Splendid video to kick off this years Zion trip, Ben!

  43. Thomas Byers says

Been wondering when the Zion videos would start rolling in, looking forward to this!
