The photographer should also be addressed. He is an adult, and one would assume he has a better understanding of right and wrong, and of the significance of the gesture the boys were making.

What gets me is that a lot of the kids who made that gesture I’m sure some older family members in their family tree fought in WW2 and maybe died in WW2 also …so why make a gesture that remembers that evil? My GREAT GRANDFATHER would’ve kicked my ass for even joking about making that salute

There are 4 or 5 students who DID NOT do any kind of salute. I hope they take that into consideration, and not punish those who did not participate.

What I find most interesting about the current rise of nationalism and fascism in the world is it coincides with the end of the WWII generation. Those who came of age in the 1930-40’s are almost gone and can no longer speak of the world at that time.

Wouldn’t it be ‘just deserts’ for the boys that are so proudly displaying their opinions, to have that photo resurface at each college or job they apply to in the future? I do believe children may not realize the consequences of their actions at the time.
