How to Make a Curved Seat For a Photo Studio Infant Pictures Prop
I was asked to make this bench for a friend and thought it would be a fun change to what I normally doing this is a curved seat for a photo studio. specifically for baby pictures. it is not my normal build as it is built with screws and almost no joinery but anyone with a jigsaw and drill can make this.

Good job and an interesting design. Best wishes
its a benchnana
What made you use screws instead of wooden dowels?
Gotta be honest, not your nicest work. I like to use screws sometimes also. Keep doing the different stuff though, that's why I tune in.
Lovely build! Thanks for the follow 🙂
What was the source for the bendy plywood. Thanks you sir.
Chaiench….lollooks great to me James…
Nice job! When I've had to make bent shapes like that, I've either used thin plywood (used in model aviation) or cut a series of kerfs in a thicker piece of plywood using a sled and my table saw.
Looks great Mr.W
Greetings from Sweden
Beautiful work James! 👌🤘
Mr James Wright I like your channel very much. thank you for the videos
Awesome
When I saw the thumbnail, I was kind of surprised this was a Wood by Wright build. It had a very Modern feel. It was cool to see how you were able to use traditional tools to create something that looks so modern including the joinery. I would have loved to see a shot or two of it in use. As always simply a fantastic build with great video, audio and instruction.
nice seat! I have to confess the hand tool approach does not appeal to me… but you do a good job!
nice project, why not use the method of manufacturing barrels (several pieces of planed wood at an angle, so you can get rid of "short grain"). here how is made traditional in my country 1.24 min https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HajKWo8yB8
looks great. I enjoyed this build a lot.
I think it might be a chair for an adult, but a bench or even a cradle for an infant
🍌
Hi there from Portugal,
Nice Banana Bench 😀
Obrigado(Thanks)
That is a cool looking seat! James, thanks for sharing it with us. 😊 JP
Good job.
I liked this work !
Cool project James! Definitely different for you! I like it!
One way of getting plywood to bend is to make a series of kerf cuts. Not sure if you could get that tight of a radius though. Nice project, good looking bench for infants/toddlers at photo sudio
That looks super cool, James! Dig the look, turned out great. Would ¼" plywood not be bendy enough?
Got to like a smiley stool! Nice one James
that turned out great James for your first time and you're right flexible plywood would be your better media.
The way you did that is a lot easier then I would or ever thought of. Now I want one
You had me at banana!
Why not resaw a bunch of thin slices of wood and laminate them together to make your own bent ply?
This harkens back to your theater scene tech days. I'm working on two plays for our summer Shakespeare season, with settings in mythical Greece, and THAT looks very Greek to me. I might use this design.
I made one of those about a year ago, also for a photo studio for infants. Instead of your method, I just laminated a bunch of those 'bananas'. Worked out well and made it nice and solid, but the sanding was a lot of work, even if I DID use power sanders for it… Nice job
Wacky wood is bendable plywood, what you are looking for…saw it on This Old House.
Nice. I started building one just like this earlier this week. Laminated pine and cut it on the bandsaw. Your method looks lighter than mine.
It's not local, but Goodrich does sell wacky wood online.
thats look pretty comfortable james..nice work… what was that a power drill/cordless drill i saw @2:38??😮..haha! just messin around
Wow! Not your normal style! But really cool! 🙂
Its good for storing Firewood in front of an oven. Luck nice, better than the fabric ones.
I like it.
Nice to see a pro using pine, good to see what you can do with it
I`m not a lover of paint on wood either, but I guess you have to do as your customer requires, and to be honest it looks great on that bench/seat/banana lol
I get flexible plywood from ebay here in the UK, I expect they will have it where you are too 🙂
Interesting build. I thought it came out great for it's intended use.
