Sorry for just now comenting on this vid but its the first time I watched it. Thank u for sharing these tips, there really good! A lot of these r the first time I heard them and I wish I had know when I had my pics done. Also I wanted to tell u that u always wear the cutest tops! 🙂
Great tips! I think you speak well – not too fast, not too slow. I will share this video with my daughter who is entering 9th grade & hope she takes them to heart. I agree that sometimes people are victims of a bad photographer, as school portrait photographers are not always hired for their skill. My advice is to practice, practice, practice at home with a digital camera. Memorize your best chin placement, head tilt, smile, etc. & stick to it, no matter what the photographer says.
Do not let them touch you (as per a previous comment). It is perfectly fine to tell them (or anyone, at any time, for the rest of your life): "Please don't put your hands on me." Just speak to them respectfully, assertively, & not with a snarky attitude.
Also remember, most school portrait companies will re-take photos if you are not happy with them. Check their guarantee policy. Good luck!

OMG my school photographer actually uses his hands to get our heads in to position he wants!!! Its so gross and his hands are all sweaty so it gets your face looking all oily and just UGHH!! And if you move your head again after he has adjusted it, he yells at you and then you just get all mad at him and have to force a smile!! Also, one time after I had just taken a picture, he looked at the photo and said "Hmm the position you put your head in does not work for you!!" and I'm just like WHAT???

a lot of the things you said the photographer fixes before they display and give out all the photos… like an uneven skin tone or patchy skin and even acne they photoshop out of the photo before they give it to you…

this year my awesome dumb new principal is chosing hilroy 🙁 so everyone is gonna be in the same posture girls with pockets puts the thumbs in girls with no pockets make the weird im holding my hips thing I know the drill this is going to be my 7th picture with hilroy and they suck!!!! urgg why cant we go with the coloured background and we chose our poses 🙁

How to smile with your eyes: So you know how right before you smile at a hot guy in class you feel your cheeks go up and then you flash your pearly whites…well right before you put your cheeks up that is smiling with your eyes so practice smiling with your eyes and having your pearly whites exposed
Oh my god! I know! I spend all morning practicing my smile and then the photographer is always moving me around! I look so stupid in all my pictures! I hate it haha
