Duran Duran — None of the Above (The Wedding Album)
Another Duran Duran song that, while not anywhere near the top, is nonetheless worth listening to…This song was track 10 on Duran Duran’s 1993 album entitled, “The Wedding Album.” This was the newest release album after their under-appreciated 1990 work, “Liberty.” This album brought a more modern approach to an already successful group. Though it bares it’s age, you can see how it is a major stepping stone in the evolution of music…Enjoy!
"There was a time I was dreaming a plan I thought could not fail.
But no power under the sun could pull it together.
Can't take this attitude.
Got to show now, got to move on.
God knows where I'm going to.
………………………………………..
Realize I never need to use no one.
Money, power, Holy Roads. Freedom puts my faith in None of the Above."
This song should have been the third single release from the album and not to much information.
This would have been a hit.
I believe Warren should still be with Duran Duran
I am I myself alone
Realize I never need to use No-one
When it comes down to my soul
Freedom puts my faith in none of the above
Duran duran

Psalm 82 – we are all gods and goddesses. Live up to it.
It is all well and good to worship, love and petition God, but sometimes you have to rely on yourself…
All Simon would need to sing opera is to find the vibrato in his voice. He could even do trills and runs!
I disagree that this is an atheistic song. Everyone is free to relate to God just the way they feel at the time. But I know something Simon may not have considered – that he sing opera. His voice is growing in richness and quality that comes out in "Ordinary World". He is not a tenor, but a baritone, meaning he can sing higher than tenor, and he does. Simon could start with "Nessun Dorma" and pull out all the stops. In this song we do not hear all his quality because the lines are short. But an extended note, after being punched in the solar plexus could do the job. Wishing you well, Simon! Love, Tabfa

B4 youtube back in 1993 I though I was the only one in love with this song, bcause stayed with me for ever since the moment I heard that, and the whole weeding album did, but now with those beatiful comments I know im not alone in the very good taste for music!
Another perfect track
Amazing. I rock this song to this day… <3
awesome song, havent heard it in probably about a year(at the least), woke up with it in my head this morning… weird how the brain works….love it…love DD, end of…enjoy all!
I live in guatemala Central America and this music is not much aprecciated as spanish singers or people usually know what is more comercial hits, I've always love this song and the whole weeding album, and reading those comments I dont feel alone on this anymore!
The Wedding Album is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!
Geez, GO JOIN A BIBLE CLASS some of you… or maybe listen to CREED and try to decipher that as well! JUST LISTEN!!!
You people think too much… don't try to speculate what it's about, just LISTEN to it and ENJOY!
Simon had said once in an interview many moons ago that he didn't really believe in God or the devil. He felt (feels) that people just use 'em to blame good or bad occurrences on. I always think of that when I play this song.
I think it's more about living life on your own terms and quit being ashamed of not being able to live up to the expectations of others. In the end, nobody else can walk in our moccasins can they?
@wizeman5974 I agree with that…I love the controversy it sparks though…If Gaga or Pink updated this, it would kick so much ass, because the boys won't do a video of it!
@Mijaseev I definitely agree and have always believed this song has been about refusing to be enslaved by intellect that only has worldly objectives and also is an anthem regarding a person's right to be an individual who has the capacity to transcend and lived authentically from within and also can choose what to live without. Holy Road is about not being forced to conform to any religion, but that a person also has the right to seek out and find God on their own terms. Great post Mijaseev.
@terikat81 I think we all call it the wedding album because the only thing it says on the front and side of my CD is "Duran Duran" and their are a bunch of pictures of people getting married -lol. I agree its a great album.
@eeljunior1 I am not sure of the song's true meaning, but the lyrics don't seem to deny the existence of God as much as they tell of a struggle that leads to some sort of rejection of what the world has to offer, especially in terms of religion. Kind of reminds me of the Enlightment thinking of the 18th century where God is seen as the great timekeeper Who does not deal directly in human affairs, but nonetheless knows everything that is going on. Just my thoughts……..
This whole album rocks!
This whole album is awesome!
Una de mis preferidas de los DD. Gracias
My second favorite song on the "wedding album". My first being Drowning Man.
LOVE this one! It almost feels like it needs a gospel choir involved but SO glad they didn't go that route…
I've always loved this song this song is truly underappreciated get this album(if you don't have it already) and listen to this song rediscover/discover it whatever great f$#$&*^ song Duran Duran still RULES!!! this song should have been on the greatest hits not Electric Barbarella(sorry guys didn't care for that one)
Such an underrated song yet I think one of Duran Duran's best!
one of my all time favorite songs by DD
I want this song played at my funeral.
we all have choices, right? maybe, some people are a little bit too choosy? wait! oh! but, wait, maybe time only separates our own dilemma! some times i find this "a sad and sorry world", but, wait! i did NOT create it… God did! therefore, honestly, i'm some times put back again in the same positioning.. some times, it's funny, some times… good song, by the way!
Thank for the clarification. You are correct 🙂 No insult taken…………
ever since i first listened to this album in 93 i was hooked on this song
Beautiful song. D.D are genial.
