What the Critics Say
Though Jim Croce produced a handful of hit singles before his death, one can nonetheless argue that Croce was and is a rather underrated songwriter. This is especially evident in listening to his album tracks, many of which are remarkably potent and arguably could have been hits themselves. The numerous double-disc collections that have been released echo this factor, but for casual fans who merely want the radio favorites, the single-disc Photographs & Memories will suffice. All of Croce’s biggest singles are here, including “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown,” “Time in a Bottle,” and “Operator,” as well as overlooked album tracks such as “New York’s Not My Home” and “Lover’s Cross.” This is far from a perfect compilation; the album barely clocks in over 40 minutes, leaving time for numerous tracks that could have easily been added onto the same disc during the record’s move from vinyl to CD. Still, it’s hard to argue with what’s here. While Croce’s more devoted followers would prefer the double-disc 50th Anniversary Collection, casual listeners merely in search of Croce’s well-known songs would be best suited with Photographs & Memories. ~ Barry Weber, Rovi

"Great musician lives forever!" The Great Jim is one! 🙂
I love this guy. Started listening to him in the early 80's and would sing his songs to my guitar.
Mi favorito dentro de la música Country (El único que me gusta de todos los que he oído)… Suponiendo que J.J. Cale no forme parte de ese estilo musical…
If old man river was on this itd be perfect

Beautiful music,rip my friend.
I grew up listening to this because of my parents. I always complained that I wanted to listen to new stuff which in my childhood the new stuff was madonna, wham, and Michael Jackson! The funny thing is I love listening to this old stuff now. Way more than 80s pop!! It always brings back happy memories!!
Maury was perfect for Jim- amazing guitar picking

Talent enough said
they don't have singers like that anymore . love this guy
I think James was close to 46 years old when he went home. Can I prove it? yes.
I am kind of tired of Bad Bad Leroy Brown and You Don't Mess Around With Jim, since those are the only two songs of Jim's that get airplay where i live, but i still enjoy One Less Set of Footsteps and Roller Derby Queen quite a bit.
Wow, 9 Mio. views ! That's great but you know what ? If music is free and just up for grabs music will die. I know this has been said many times but it is still true.
Now everybody here go and download from iTunes or buy the CD or go to Ingrid Croces store and buy something. Please, if you really respect Jim and Maury , do it.
http://www.crocesstore.com/ Also check out AJ, Jim's son, very accomplished musician.
Jim and Maury, thank you for the music !

I used to listen to this music in a different time my life. It's always amazing to play an album and pictured in your mind is who you WERE and who it was with. It is what it is…and it ain't what it WAS.
is it me or does he look like borat? lol
I'm happy it was on my time when Jim was so popular those were the days

Ugly as sin, but sure could sing.
I LoveIt Jim Croce's music no matter what anybody says
2019 and New York's still not my home
I remember singing his songs as a very small small girl. There’s something empowering about singing about a player when you’re 5. Lmao! 😂
Ok so he died in a plane crash everyone knows that but you guys should prolly know what his plane crashed into …it crashed into a peacan tree smh my dad wasn’t even alive when he died but I listen to his beautiful songs all the time because it’s something I can relate to I have a notebook where I listen to his songs and write them down . Kids my age (12) need to understand that the world isn’t just hard rap it’s true love in songs. His beautiful folk music is wonderful love u Jim
A brilliant song writer and musician. The first time I heard him was on the school bus and I asked the bus driver WHO's is this on the radio . I saved my allowance for 3 weeks to buy is greatest bits album, it was worth it .
My partner and I get so many requests to play songs fro Croce and others of the time between the hippies and disco it was a great time to be twenty
I liked his recital of Rudyard kiplings " gunga din".
Time in a botle is my favirote song ever
I was watching midnight special when I heard the terrible news. Jim Croce was killed in a plane crash. I know he has a son who also sings. Looks just like his father. RIP
Very poignant album title but the fact is; it's sometimes all you have left when your loved one leaves you…..
Great music for those nights driving across Wyoming.
"small bamboo hut" in the Philippines?
Croce forever!!!
