2018 Sony World Photography Awards: Open category entries
The Sony World Photography Awards, an annual competition hosted by the World Photography Organization, is now in its 11th year. Presently one of the largest photography competitions in the world, it comprises of professional, open, youth and student focus contests — which are free to enter. Every year, the winners stand to gain $30,000, along with the latest Sony digital imaging equipment.
Last dates for entries: For Professional (10 categories), Jan. 11, 2018; for Open (10 categories) and Youth (aged 12-19), Jan. 4, 2018; for Student Focus (studying photography), Dec. 4, 2017.
Here’s a look at some of the early entries received for the open contest, in categories ranging from architecture to landscape to culture and wildlife. Photo descriptions provided by the contestants.

on your next video like this please use a voiceover not a mechanical voice and don't have the annoying slow slanted outwards zoom on every photo we want to appreciate the full shots. other than that this was well put together 🙂

I am a bit confused if this is a vide of the CURRENT WINNERS OF SIPA,,,TO BE ANNOUNCED 3-16-2018. I assume it is. I was told my work was in the running……but I didnt think I had much chance…but I saw a pic from last year,,, a girl standing with horses,,,,seemed unoriginal / the ones I saw on this vieo were beautiful, far better than mone but the last one…was that an ad or a ?? Some flowers…..4-5 violent standing flowers we see daily…not original…..at alllllll. Thank you….Steven 'Rudy' Wilson
