“I’ve been blessed with the honor and privilege to accompany Eric Kim through his street photography career. This is a compilation of his workshops up to date (excluding Beirut, Lebanon). His enthusiasm, passion, and openness are truly infectious, as indicative in the camaraderie created within his workshops. Here is my homage to his greatest and unique talent of all–the ability to teach and share his love of photography through workshops.”

Workshops like this are a complete waste of time and money. If you have a passion for the art of Photography, take time and learn the basics (technical / composition etc). Buy books, read and absorb – check out the work of past master photographers (& actual working photographers – not internet bloggers), visit galleries etc. It's a good foundation from which to work. You will ultimately bend and shape that knowledge in the creation of your art. Start slow, buy entry level equipment; its perfectly capable in the right hands. Learn your equipment, it's capabilities and then get out and apply that skill and knowledge – you will soon know if you have an "eye" or not. Unfortunately this particular chap believes the technical aspects fo photography are not irrelevant- this is not true. Based on other videos published, he advocated that you should just do as he does and shoot everything at F8, ISO1600 and in Aperture Priority…to my mind this type of advice is poison. Photographers are technicians, artists and poets.

these workshops are not healthy for the photographers who want to make work on the street the real way, learn on your own, take your time and know how to handle "yourself". One persons technique and approach is and should be hugely different from the next and that is because it is something that takes a long time to cultivate "on your own". A gang of nervous camera wielding people who have been given a virtual script of what to say if they are confronted about taking a strangers picture really isn't going to help a away of working which is already in jeopardy. Aside from that I appreciate your more theoretical videos Eric, I really do making content that isn't just camera based is rare on youtube,

People, go out and just start taking pictures of things you think are interesting or have some sort of feeling or emotion to them. You do not need a $10k Leica/lens combo or a freakin' workshop to do it. Not a single great street photographer ever took a class or went to a workshop. They bought whatever camera they could afford and started taking pictures. When I see someone with a Leica and another with a Fuji X-Pro1,for example, I know right away who likely has the real talent. A $2k Fuji outperforms a $10k Leica hands down. That should tell you a lot right there about the "photographer."

I'm sorry, but ALL OF ART is self-promotion… Whether or not you like Eric Kim and think he's ripping people off, ask yourself… "What the fuck are you doing with your life?!"

Sounds like you're just making excuses for your sorry self.
