Thank you very much, extremely helpful video and happy that you put the links in bio! When it comes to lighting is it worth it to have diversity and what lighting you tend to use the most? šŸ™‚

  2. Kristian Svendsen says

Just a tip: invest in some sound foam

Hi Kayleigh, couple of questions: how do you get the strobes to fire? and do you use a light meter? thanks šŸ™‚

you have a very similar basic set up to me … I have that backdrop stand..so cheap but does the job
I set it up the winter before last so I had somewhere to shoot over winter & got some great results although I used LED lighting not strobes

  5. Mr Smee says

Very useful tips.. love the way you've used such a small space to shoot..

  6. Femy says

If you have strobes or modelling lights for studio setup which one would you choose and why? Thankyou Kayleigh.

Loved this video. Iā€™ve been having issues using fabric as a backdrop because I either get creases or those pull marks appear when Iā€™ve tried to stretch and clip the fabric. What type of fabric do you use and how do you attach it to the stand so itā€™s a smooth canvas?? (Donā€™t mean the creases I know you mentioned that already!)

hi Kayleigh, just a wee thought here regarding sand-bags for the light-stands.i went to my local beach and filled a couple of plastic shopping bags with sand.i divided this sand into sperate bags at home and sealed the plastic bags with tape.i then cut the legs off some old pairs of trousers, and placed the sand-filled plastic bags inside the trouser legs.sewed the legs, then sealed again, with tape.cheap and cheerful sand-bags for the added security of using light stand with heavier lights and modifiers.

This was SOOOO helpful! Donā€™t find these type of videos on YouTube that often! Thank you so much!!!

If you need sand bags, use empty milk jugs and fill with water and hang them on the stand. Works great on location near water, when done with shoot just empty them out. Light and mobile. Thanks for sharing your info.

But now I think my room is too small even for this setup šŸ™

Thank you for sharing your setup. I'm a makeup artist in a smaller city that's wanting to shoot some of my own beauty and hair work so finding a beginner-friendly home setup like this is wonderfully helpful.
