Can i ask, how come everyone tells you to use a wide-angle lens for portrait? I personally think a telephoto lens with low aperture with zoom gives much more interesting photos as the background for the most part consist of cool different colored blurrs? What am i missing? I'm a novice, so any detailed insight would be appreciated.

Good video though I did find it odd that the term "Depth of Field" was never mentioned. This is the element that drives what's in focus or not. Even a basic tutorial should at least mention that without getting too technical.

thats a very interesting topic. Is there a way to know how much each of those elements determines the background blurriness? for example a 200mm 2.8 vs a 105 1.4. One has morefocal lengh and the ither has bigger aperture

On my previous Nikon D5300, I could browse images using the back wheel, along with the navipad, in the playback view. And this seemed to be practical sometimes. However, on my Nikon 7100 this option does not seem to be the default setting. How can I get the camera to use the back wheel for scrolling images ?
