Darren Miles is the guest on this week’s edition of Tech Down Over, talking photography, cameras, and more!
He’s a versatile photographer who started with portraits, but now his specialty is architectural and real estate. He’s also done weddings and other types of events.
He talks about the changing world of real estate photography. What he’s found is that video is in high demand.
Though he’s mainly done photography before, he’s fully into videography now. People don’t just want to see pictures of homes, they want you to take them through and they want it to be beautiful!
Darren’s mainly using the Sony A7R III to shoot, and now has the A7 III.
He talks about color; he shoots Canon with the C100 and has shot Nikon in the past. Even though he loves his Sony cameras and their focus, he can’t fault Canon color.
Darren also plans to update Camp Miles, where you can get training on real estate photography online.
We also talk about the younger generation, like Darren’s 11-year-old son. His son has a gaming channel, Mighty Max (link below) and has already, at his young age, become a confident presenter.
The popularity of video in the real estate market is just a reflection of the world at large; kids like Darren’s son are born into a world where video runs everything!
After Darren leaves, Rick and Geoff talk about Darren’s videography, and the inspiration they can provide to photographers.
Geoff talks about wanting to get out shooting more with his GH5. Miserable days, he says, can yield some of the best shots. Rain and gloom can create wonderfully moody scenes. He also talks about the advantages of winter lighting.
