Here is a FULL hands on review of the New shoulder bag by Think Tank Photo called Retrospective 30. This is a very well thought out and manufactured bag. I was surprised at the amount of gear I could securely fit into this bag.

Check out the full hands on review.

I just got this Think Tank retrospective 30 bag.Fits my Olympus OM-D Em5 ii ,12-40,40-150 zooms plus 1.4 adapter ,go pro Hero5 with case, small binoculars Ialso have a tablet and still has room for more gear, maybe fits a small laptop too but it becomes heavy so it's just enough for me to carry for any length of time ,so far I like it alot .

    Hi Jared,
Is it possible to do review in other Thinktank bags? such as Thinktank Shape Shifter and Thinktank Perception Pro?
    Thanks in advance 🙂

    Hi Jared.
Will it fit the 70-200 attached to the camera without the hood (or with the hood reversed)?
Do you prefer shoulder bags such as this or sling bags?

  8. Vartan297 says

Almost the same as the Tenba messenger, also a great bag. Hey is that a laser disc player in back? Nice!

I bought a black rapid rs-5 it was a pricey item , I am not happy with it, and I will tell you why, it has no rubber stuff on the strap, it slides to much I will not recommend it , went back to Nikon strap!, NOT HAPPY WITH THIS ITEM.

I just picked up this bag today at Allen's. I see you dont use the cases that the lens came with. Is it ok to store your lenses in your bag without the cases on the lens? Than again, Im very careful with my equipment. Just trying to make it easier on myself when taking things out!

So, I've got a D7000 with MB-d11, 70-200, 50 1.4, 35 1.8, sb600. Soon to get a 24-70 or wide angle zoom. Is the retrospective 30 a good choice for this equipment? or is it gonna be too big?

  13. RandomnessThatILove says

Hey Jared, I have a retrospective 20, and I was wondering if it was viable to store my camera with the lens hood attached on the 24-70 in the normal orientation, facing down (with the camera attached). I was pretty indecisive on this because I'm worried about wearing the focus mechanism if i put all the weight on the moving part of the lens (when the hood is reversed), versus all of the weight on the hood instead. What's your take? You use a D3s, which is way heavier than my D7000 + grip. Thanks

    I still like Billingham's shoulder bags…its water-dripped/water resistant…and i'm not sure if i like the Velcro

  19. Lucho Vidales says

    it will fit a 300 2.8?

  20. Scott McGee says

@idrive12 Thanks a lot. 🙂 Another question, which has more space?

  21. Scott McGee says

in your opinion. retrospective 30 or glass taxi? reply?

  22. Jared Polin says

@arabinow great question, if I will be changing lenses and switching to other lenses in the hebrew trinity i will leave it in the camera. If I will be using only the 70-200 i will put it in the collar. The reason for this is i dont want to unhook in order to switch lenses. I do have extra fastnr's which i can keep on the 70-200 and the body but i prefer keeping on the body only when shooting. Il switch to the mount if i am walking with the lens or letting it hang there.

  23. Jared Polin says

@JazzeRae360 to me a 70-200 is way more versatile.

  24. Jay Francis says

hey Jared my mom got me a d5000 kit 18-55 (for xmas which she hid terribly) but i cant pick whether to get a 70-200 or a fish eye which would you say to get first and i am getting a 50mm prime from my uncle

  25. padlockd says

Have you tried the Retrospective 10? I'm thinking about getting that one.

  26. Jared Polin says

@bngphotos I have put it in sand on the beach its still soft but its material than padding than equipment so i think its fine.

  27. Spencer Huang says

    @JaredPolin

Ah. Got ya. I'm thinking of buying one for when I travel. From what I hear it seems to be exactly what I'll be needing.

Think its a good travel bag as well?

  28. Jared Polin says

@thelstdragn It will weigh your shoulder down with what I have in it. I love shooting out of this bag but after 6 hours of walking and carrying it will get a little annoying.

  29. Spencer Huang says

How comfortable is this bag? How long can you carry it on you (moderate/fully loaded) before it starts to hurt?
