10 minute bride and groom portrait shoot – One room, one camera, one lens, one take
In this video I spend 10 minutes in one room, with one camera and one lens to see how many bride and groom portrait photographs I can take in that time. This wedding photography behind the scenes took place on one of my off camera flash workshops – although this shoot was all in natural light.
For this challenge I used my Sony A9 camera together with a Samyang 35mm 1.4 lens. Within the shoot I also used a prism and fractal filter for creative effects.
I hope that this video helps to demonstrate the variety of different images it is possible to take in limited space and a short time when you try to maximise all the things which are available to you in the room – such as natural light, mirrors and reflections.
A huge thank you to my friend Marc for filming and booking on to the workshop, Demi and James for being my amazing models and also to Kim, Phil and Vickie for attending the workshop and not heckling whilst I shot this video!

Hi Neil. Brilliant as usual. Can you please show us how you edited these shots in the next video
What are you using at 9:53, some kind of prism? All photos are so so inspirational. Good job from Bulgaria!
Love these videos! I’ll be shooting my first wedding in June. These videos are really helping me think of some creative ideas to stand out from every other photographer. Thank you for sharing!
Your models are quite amazing no hesitation that's impacting the timing
how without flash subject is so bright ?
Great video as always Neil, please keep them coming 👍
Ugly edition, they look like 2 oranges
Very nice Neil. Glad you’ve seen the Sony light. 😬

How I wish.. I could metamorph into an ace photographer like you. 🤗
It would be super if you could include exif of images 😊
How did you mount the gopro on the camera?
Brilliant video Neil. Belitin Lancashire accent like mine I'm from Chorley.
Well, one problem is that the room is too clean. In most real Situation The bride's room is a mess, the same goes for the groom's room! Do you Clean it or have someone that works for you? Yes with a clean room you can get a lot of photos in a limit amount of time like 10 minutes! Normally the room is a disaster as to USA weddings!
Also, Mothers, and mother-in-law trying to direct everything!
Everything else was great for inspiration and being that fast and good doesn't happen overnight! You have to shoot Many, many weddings to be ready for anything that you have to deal with!
Image at 11.06 & 12.00 are my favourite, simple setup, simply lighting, equals very beautiful pleasing image
So good, so inspirational. Also a very clear presentation and a great presenter.
Great video. Could you tell me please what is the item that you use at 2.43? Last, we want a video with this grea editing. Thanks in advance

Great video. What is that ‘toy’ you pulled out towards the end? To make the sort of crystal effect? It’s a great idea. Thanks

Superb as always, Neil 🙂
Need more teachers like you making videos! Thank you!
Hi Neil, another great video. Really inspiring. How are you finding the Samyang 35 1.4 lens? Just in the middle of switching to Sony and have been looking at getting that lens.
Killer shoot. Hey mate. What are you shootings through at 2:39 .??
So when is the patreon happening?
The only video of yours I've been slightly disappointed with. You had everything set-up/pre-planned before the shoot. Not really a 'challenge' unless you're thrown into a situation and have to create portraits on the fly.
What is the magic😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I'm blown away here Neil, what a masterclass that was and I LOVE the edits. Wow. Take a bow good sir.
