Great review – I have one but have not used it….love the footage you captured
Over-all a great camera for the application. It uses a similar image sensor as the GoPro 7 which makes it relatively easy to mix footage from both cameras together. My only nit with both this and the GoPro is use of 8 bit 4:2:0 chroma subsampling. The footage produced is pretty good if primarily used as-is. However, if you like to do heavy handed color grading then the image can get a little weirded out. Once you've experienced 10 bit 4:2:2 it's tough going back – you have to remind yourself to stay in the box. Otherwise, a very nice choice.
Thanks Mark Wallace. You have convinced me with this gadget. Going to buy one now.
Small camera big features I cut believe wad kind of card they use?
Why are most of the 50% speed video clips super framey while the last 2 clips seem smooth? Were the last two edited on your phone?
Did I miss it or is there an LCD screen so you can see what you're recording?
Hey Mark – great summary! Pretty much matches my experience of the Osmo Pocket so far. I'm using it more as a robotic camera on the Bluetooth base to follow me around the studio. One tip I can share – to reduce the bobbing up and down when walking, hold the camera pointing out from you (horizontal) and re-center it. It can then partially compensate for the up-down movement. The recording mic will point downwards (or upwards if you chose that way up) if you do this, but if you're not using the audio for your walk-around – it's nothing to worry about.
Thanks for this video! It's great to see actual footage and not just "hey, it can do this an that, buy it" 🙂
About to add one to my kit!
Nice review of its video capability, but what about its use for photos?
Mark, after 6 years of watching your presentations, I’m still not bored! As usual, yada yada, you are still SPECTACULAR!!!
did you mount it on your bike as well? How is the stabilization working in strong wind?
I own the GoPro and pocket and love both but it's definitely not a GoPro killers it's great for trips and travelling while the GoPro can get down and dirty
i want this, who else?
I use this for stock footage and it IS one of the best cameras I have used to date.
This is the camer I am using for my videos, I like the portability and of course that is has a gimbal. Too many reviews focus on all the small details but I personally just love being able to shoot anywhere anytime
Thanks for this video. I was checking one of these out and wasn't sure whether or not to get one. Definitely going to pick one up now.
What's you experience with the battery life and charging time cause in the ad they all lie.
Can you exchange the battery ??
Looks good for 1/2.3 sensor.
Thanks for sharing
did you also use the auto mode in the low light shots?
The slowed down video is kind of a fail… it seems half the speed, but at 15fps…
How about storage and battery life?
Good video. Better performance in low light than I would have thought. Thanks!
👍
So Mark, are you saying you like it? 😉 Thanks for the review!
