A initially learned photography as a kid shooting black & white then developing the photos in a dark room, that was a magical time and sparked my interest in photography. As I got older I dabbled in digital photography but wasn't until my kids were born that i really started to get an active interest back in it all.

I did a small group [4 people] inside using a reflector behind me with my flash pointing at the reflector. Turned out pretty good. I tried the reflector behind me because I was getting shadows in my picture. I try different things when I have a problem and this worked [no shadows].
What would be the best set up for a group shot outside of about 50 people.
That's a really helpful technique
Nice video… how about light placement when subjects are wearing glasses… keep the lights higher? Â There always seems to be that individual who has very reflective glasses that your lights show up in. Â Thanks for the demo
you really have a very informative videos here. do you still use flash aside from the lighting that you use?
thank you so much, really helpful
Awesome Group 😉
Hey mate, how big is that octabox? and what power did you have the strobe set at? thanks!
Hi
I am trying to take big Group Shots out door and ambien light with 18mm f7.1 and f11 how can i make sharper and clear do i need 50mm higher or wide will be better?
Hi Mark, I have my diploma in photography but there is still so much to learn and I have found your lessons to be very helpful. I am going to be doing a large family shoot soon and was wondering if you have a lesson on out door group photos, I have not been able to find one. If not cane you give me a few pointers on how to use the natural light to ge the best result. Thanks
do you have a DVD for these? where can i buy it?
high im new to photography, just a question when u shoot a group shot what kind of Aperture do i need to use and what kind of focus point do i need to use in order to get all subject in sharp or all in focus…thanks
@ashkibala1 Yes.
Awesome~ thanks for the lesson!
group lighting with speedlights PLEASE!! thanks!!
Thanks Mark.. I find your video's a pleasure to watch as they are very informative.. Just wondering can I do this with a SB700?
Great video, thanks Mark!!
another great tutorial Mark! keep them coming because i am learning a lot from you!
Thanx mark! Can this be done with one sb-900 speedlight? full pwr.
hey Mark, thanks for the excellent tutorial ! I really enjoyed that and actually learned a bunch ! Very creative use of flash and walls. Thanks !
@ErnieCosmo So in other words, it isn't the same at all. Sunlight + no big white wall behind you. =P
So what about lighting big groups outside?
@yowu7446 Or just put Digital Photography 1 on 1 after the title instead of before! Either way would help.
This video is really cool. Thank you for sharing. Are you letting any ambient light into these group photograph you are taking on this video? Are you at your maxim syncs speed?
I just want to suggest; "can you please name your episodes, with the Digital Photography 1 on 1 abbreviated? Like "DP1-1-Title". It is really hard to go through the list on your channel, where the title is always long and is hidden.
Can you get the same result using a speedlight bouncing of the wall?
I wonder if shoot through umbrella works well as the octobox?
THANKS MARK!!!!
very helpful guide! Thanks Mark!
this is pretty kool…..thanx
great video, thank you
I love your vids . . . 😀
