UPDATES:
1) The phone connector can be re-attached to the camera flipped around so it fits it in the provided case without protruding through the hole. When I tried this during shooting it didn’t seem to fit – but I had the case inverted. I apologise for this error/omission. If this has changed your mind about the camera – click an affiliated link above to purchase it.
2) The photo at 05:22 of the railings was not taken with the Osmo – it snuck into the project folder in error. It was taken with an iPhone X in Portrait mode – hence the weird blurring artifacts.

All these bloody additional attachments needed, absolute racket. These are basic features that should have been standard in the first place.

With a selfiestick I use a lightning extension cable. Then it works like having the phone attached an face tracking works.

i liked you going over the menus and interface. specs are one thing, if you can't get to the option to use those specs then whats the point? UI/UX is very important and is ignored too often. so thank you for going over that part!

I cant stand anything that needs a phone to function, maybe OK with perfect eyes but glasses on glasses off gets on my nerves, this is small for the sake of small, the phone thing goes for drones too, someone should make an action styled camera but twice as big for men with big hands

I just bought the Techmoan mug. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZC0k77CVu_M&feature=youtu.be

just as stumped as you, did you know you cant plug in the mic adaptor into the back of the wireless adaptor… one or the other… so odd.

also I got the new rode wireless go and it is working well with O.P.

    Great review. Thanks very much.

  13. ermirobag says

I liked how you went into details after proper time spent with the device. Re 18:10 one more bummer with the wireless adapter attached is that Cinelike profile is disbaled and you can only shoot with the Normal picture profile.

  14. Julian Stockmeier says

I hope in case there will be an Osmo Pocket 2 that it will have:
    A lower price tag
    A bigger sensor
A mic port that is built in
    A mount hole
    Bluetooth and WiFi built in
    removable battery
And that button accessoires should not be and accessoires it should be built in

Sorry if my english/spelling isn‘t the best.

What about the 120FPS mate? Is it still available? Apologies if commented on already.

One of the best reviews on YT. As usual. Thanks for sharing. Would be interested to know how many viewers watched the full vid. Great concept splitting it and tone is good in the last section. Down playing that last bit is a good idea for sure… dont want everyone to know all that cool stuff 😉 :0) Would be interested in an update vid and if you use this device regularly and what settings. Looks like you have decent frame rates dialled in. Lots of longevity in this video wise. DJI will no doubt be updating stuff and aftermarket gear will be coming out for years to come! Good luck 🙂

  23. Mel Meller says

Beware.. On some android phones.. The osmo ends up charging the phone.. In my case… I lose 1% charge a minute. On my Huawei phone there is no way to stop this charging. So.. The osmo became a bit less useful for me. 😢

Nice thorough review! Love the Llama video clips! Btw for comparison I used the DJI osmo mobile 2 with my Samsung s7 edge 4k cell phone to vlog some recent trips which I posted on my channel if you want to see it in action and it worked pretty well until it completely stopped working halfway through my trip.

DJI replaced it twice under warranty but while using a cell phone is very convenient and small the problem is with cell phones having such small camera sensors they are very susceptible to warping video effects / rolling shutter similar when there are quick camera movements to what you showed on your motorcycle view.

Also if you want to get fairly smooth handlebar video try using the gopro 7 on a motorcycle handlebar 1/4" tripod mount that isn't very long.

The gopro 7 has great stabilization and using a short mount helps reduce vibrations.

Here's the amazon link to the $12 USD tripod short mount i use on my bicycle handlebars with the gopro 7.

  26. Becker's Rs says

You are not using it right but that’s ok, it means the device is not intuitive enough

  27. Photo Khyapa says

very detailed, thank you very much

  28. flomojo2u says

Wow, I was kind of excited at the beginning about it, but after seeing SO many required extra bits to buy to really use it properly I am completely turned off. Seriously, requiring a dongle for BT/WiFi in 2019? That’s a problem I would expect to see in a product made years ago, not current year where any sort of decent pocket cam tends to roll that feature in.

  29. Carl-Fredrik Sundström says

There are 3rd party wide lenses that attach like the ND filters using magnets.

Mat, next time that type of language issue pops up, task Google Translate with solving the problem. Used it recently for an OSD that was Chinese only. Saved my bacon, as it was CAN BUS related. Cheers

  37. Outlaw says

Instead of solving random issues with making new accessories. How about going back to the drawing table and update the entire design…

  38. FTB [FunkyTechBlues] says

as always, thank you..great review, i'm tied between the Osmo pocket or the go pro 7….my brain hurts…lol

  39. ThriftyAV says

I've been looking for something EXACTLY like this! I like the narrower field of view when compared to a GoPro or such, no fisheye effect. I would like for it to clip into my "pocket" for shooting vid while I walk around without drawing too much attention.

  40. Love Castle says

Why does the video by the canal seem like it's about 10% too fast?

  41. Lau Bjerno says

Thanks for the suggestion not to buy it at all – I'll go with that.

I've just finished your videos on the biggest & tiniest records, CDs, DVDs, & cassettes ever made & was wondering if you could do something similar for Floppy Disks.

  44. Hyper_ Gaming says

I have this i HATE it I have a better camera that does the same thing (MORE expensive) and more storage.
